urgent!could someone please give me a hand

dear members of collegeconfidential,

I go to a british school but i would like to apply to american universities.
Unfortunately teachers here do not know anything about commonapp etc and i dont have anyone to get advices from. By monday i have to get everything sorted for my teachers and tell them one by one what to do.

I registered to common app but iam so confused!
Ah early admissions and still everything seems a jumble nd the stress is really getting to me :(

Ive written my part but what are the things i need my school to write
I know that there are recommendations and transcript...?
My headmaster/PRrincipal wants to write me a recommendation letter but he has never 'taught' me?
So do i just invite him via commonapp as recommender like any other teaachers or do i get an envelope with the school stamp etc (but i live in france does this mean posting to us will delay my recommendation letter?)
Is it a disadvantage to send in many recommendations?
We dnt have gpa system and we dont do APs i want to list my Gcse and Gce cetificates but i couldnt find where on common app?

What are other things that the school has to do for me?
AND HOW DO YOU DO IT?

I have so many qs and no one to answer them at school Help!

First of all - relax. Everything is going to be fine.

Next, go to the website for the universities that hold your interest and look to their ADMISSIONS sections for details regarding what they require for your application. They will have a section for foreign students.

Third, schools generally want two teacher recomendations from your form V or form VI teachers PLUS one letter of recommendation from your school counselor (headmaster would be fine) - the latter should state how challenging your class schedule was compared to your classmates and your class rank, if the school provides class rank and a description of the high school.

Make sure that your application to the university gets to them by the deadline. The teacher recomendations and transcript can come later.

If the school sends letters of recommendation by mail, they should be sure to put as much identifying information on the documents as possible because the universities will scan it into their computer and add it to your electronic application file. Be sure that your name, applicant class and birthdate are on there as well as any identification number (we use Social Security numbers).

Best of luck.
