**URGENT** DADS name instead of MINE

ok…this might sound a lil stupid…my dad was filling up my Penn School Report initial part (to be filled byapplicant - he has a good writing)…he filled up HIS name instead of mine… three of us checked it and didn’t notice the stupid thing…and the package has been sent…i was going through the photocopies and saw the mistake…now what can I do to save the situation…does it affect my chances ???

wow, you are majorly screwed, you might wanna call the office, and explain ur mistake...good luck!

explain that your dad was writing your application for you?! NO! what is your name and what is your dad's name? if they're remotely close or can be related to each other, you might be able to say that your dad's name is a nickname and everyone calls you that so much that it is practically your name...

Uhh, just say your dad was filling it out because he had neat handwriting... ther'es nothing wrong with that. But that's a pretty dumb mistake =P

i still don't get that part?? which app is this person talking about? and what's so embarrasing about it? many people have others writing their apps b/c they got in to good schools, rather than someone like me who writes neat but not grammatically well.

lol...that's really funny...but I can offer you no help or suggestions

email the dean explain what happened or call i had a similar problem (name was backwards)

yeah I would just suggest calling up the admissions office or your regional director or something... and explaining the situation - I'm sure its really NOT that big of a deal.. It's definitely somethin that they would be able to fix... I guess you gotta go yell at your dad now, lol

i did exactly the opposite. i wrote my name as my dad's name. i emailed them and they say it's no big deal.

name was backwards?

my name is ANINDYA and his is ANIL........ the transcript and other documents that have gone along with this Penn school report have my name on them. Problem is that it is the Secondary School Report (supposed to be sent by school)......i sent it with school stamp on envelope...... they can ask....how did i come to know that the name was wrongly put in???....i checked out photocopies......

its too late now...unless you want to make a fool of yourself to the adcoms, i suggest you just forget about it

as long as you put your social security number on everything that you sent them, they will use that to track it, so you'll be okay there, but they will definitely think that that is a bit sketchy unless you talk to them.

Just forget about it. As long as he didn't put HIS SSN....
Anyways, how are you so sure that he wrote HIS name if you already sent it? Is this just post-application "what if" syndrom?

i had photocopies......i looked at them.....i'll tell u the situation in india...and most of the world.... U fill up the school report and the counselor statement...get it signed by the counselor....get the school stamp put and then mail it....so i knew what was written on the page....

Update: I called up their Admissions Office....they told me its no big deal.....if they see that my school report is missing(while checking out my credentials)....they will email me and i can reply and explain the situation to them...and anyways...the transcript and other documents accompanying my school report had MY name on it .... anyways ...we dont have SSN nos in India....so what I really want right now is....what explanation will I give them if and when a mail arrives.....

gosh I did kind of the same thing too I switched my middle and my first names to one of my schools but I decided i'd just say it was what I went by in hs
