Ok so my financial aid application has been ready for a while now, but i have not yet received my financial aid. I figured it would be ready by today since the fees are due tomorrow, But i just checked and it was still not posted, and the office is already closed. So i decided to check my aid application status and now it says i need to fill out a "verification of enrollment of other family member in college", I never received any notification that i needed to fill this out and I have to pay for fees tomorrow so i am somewhat stressed out. But the form says it is due by October 1, 2009. So my questions are has this happened to anyone? How am i supposed to pay for my fees tomorrow if I won't get my financial aid award until I turn in the verification form? Am i going to be dropped from my classes if I can not pay my fees? What if I turn in the form tomorrow? Will they be able to process my award in time so I can pay my fees? Please if anyone can help I will greatly appreciate it!
Thank You.

Does it say PAID or UNPAID on your ZotAccount? You don’t get the money physically until he 21st, but the school uses some of it to pay off dues ahead of time.

i haven’t even received my award info so that i can accept it, and no it says i have an unpaid balance.

that really sucks man; I also got a notification from the financia aid to my uci email account saying i need to verify that my other family members are enrolled… so did my friend. but unlike you, we received our aids 4+ weeeks ago.

I highly doubt they’ll be able to process the funds fast enough to pay your fees if everything is settled tomorrow with your forms… Sadly, your classes will be dropped and you will have to pay 50$+ for late fees. you have until 10/16 to get your fees paid or you won’t be an anteater!
my sister and another friend didnt recieved their financial aid on time, so they went in weeks before the fee deadline and talked to the office… they got it figured out and they got their aid that way; you need to get on the ball, man, it’s still not too late. go get all up in the financial aid/scholarships office’s grill!

that’s the thing i never got notified that i needed to verify that my family member was in college i didn’t even know i had to because every time i checked the “my aid award” tab it says “Your file is complete. We expect to have your financial aid award available shortly. You will receive notification from us once your award information is available.” Until today i checked the “my aid application status” and that’s how i found out that i needed to verify that my family member goes to college.
What exactly do you mean by “on Time” when you say your sister and her friend didn’t get their aid? Was there a specific time we were supposed to receive our aid by? Because many people on this forum had been commenting that they hadn’t received their aid yet either, and one person said that the fin aid office told them their aid should be up by today so i figured i was in that bunch that would be getting their aid today especially since it said “my file was complete and that i should get my award shortly”.
I had no idea that i needed to get my sister verified, and did not receive any email or notification so I can’t see how i was supposed to know.
But i will make the trip to uci tomorrow to hopefully get this all straightened out :/

Make the case that you were not properly notified. It is definitely not right if you are dropped from your classes and pay late fees.

My financial aid info was completed just last week, and it was much less than I expected. I didn’t have enough time to get a loan, so I signed up for a PACE program through ZotAccount. It basically lets you pay your tuition partially and will make you not dropped of your classes. If you can’t get your financial info ready by tomorrow, at least ask them if you can sign up for it.

When was the last time you checked your fin aid page? That family member thing caught me off by guard too and if it weren’t for CC I prob wouldn’t found out. I think they wanted verification from me starting in mid-July though.

Fyi, if your sibling goes to grad school, UCI doesn’t count them as being in college. Just letting you know beforehand. :/

by on time, i meant a week or two after the general consensus is out that most people got their aid. which would be around early to mid august. i got two emails from financial aid, one to my gmail and the other to my uci.edu. but still, u should have recieved it before that notification… unless they give aid to seniors first. which i guess might make sense.

but yeah talk to the fin aid office. and try to get someoen to help u guarantee that ur classes wont be dropped… that wont fix itself unless you actively seek out some approval from some people.

@dorkdorkdork I have been checking my fin aid everyday for a month, and I had checked the my aid application status every now again so i’m positive that they didn’t post that i needed the verification in mid july it has to have been within the last 2 weeks, but since the “my aid award” tab said “my file is complete” I didn’t even think to check the “my aid application status” Maybe if It had said my file was incomplete then yes i would have definitely checked. But I mean had i gotten an email about it or been notified somehow, i would have taken care of it immediately, but now i am going in to the fin aid office today to work this out hopefully

ok so i went to the fin aid office and the guy told me that they are just waiting for my award to get approved and that it should be ready by next week. So i had to sign up for PACE plan and came up with enough to cover the first payment so hopefully now my fin aid gets here soon. Oh and faxed it the verification form so that shouldn’t be a problem now
