Hi, I have an interview for a scholarship for a college tomorrow and I was wondering if CC'ers could provide me some possible questions that either you have encountered in interviews or that are pretty much basic/expected.

I just don't want to get up there and get stumped and blurt out "I don't care/I don't know"

Interviewer: Hi.
spets: I don't care.
Interviewer: Why attracted you to college X?
spets: I don't know.
Interviewer: What are your hobbies?
spets: I don't know or care.
Interviewer: Hmmm, okay.
spets: Jeez, why don't you ask some easy questions?!
Interviewer: Like what?
spets: I don't know.
Interviewer: ...

Before you go, find out something about the organization; how does it contribute to your community? Ask about their current programs. If it's appropriate, talk about how high school students could be more involved in the mission of the organization.

Is this an interview with the college itself or a third party organization that gives scholarships? Either way, learn as much as possible about the scholarship program and/or the organization before the interview. Often they will publish (either in literature or on a web site) what they are looking for in a scholarship applicant. Be sure you can demonstrate how you meet these criteria. Common themes are leadership skills, overcoming adversity, career plans, public service, etc. Figure out if any of these apply to you and be ready to talk about them in a natural way during the interview (don't talk like you are reciting an essay).

Be friendly and take the initiative during the conversation. Work on being an active participant rather than just waiting for each question to be asked.
