Hi guys, I have a very big issue-- please can someone assist me?

I'm an international student, so I know relatively little about the Common App and the process -- my GC and teachers know even less.

Yesterday, my GC accidentally submitted some unnecessary, deleterious, optional documents to the Common App. I have not submitted my application yet, so, those documents will not have reached any of my schools, correct? They should just be sitting on the Common App server.

Before I hit submit on my application as a whole, how can my GC un-submit those documents? I need to inform her asap.
Thank you so much to anyone who can assist me.

Does anyone have some insight into this issue? Are the documents ‘final’ once she’s hit submit, or is there a potential last-minute retrieve?

To the best of my knowledge once it is submitted there is nothing that can be retracted. There is an optional report to use if a correction or addition has to be made, but once the original common app is submitted it will go to the schools.

@Bemusedfyz from the common app recommenders section Mistake on form

The Common Application Support Team is not permitted to make updates to any submitted forms.

The Common Application organization evaluated the issue of counselors and teachers who want to retrieve or edit previously submitted online forms because they addressed their recommendations to specific institutions without realizing it (despite the instructions), or wanting to change answers on the already submitted form. They also evaluated the issue of counselors submitting updated or incorrect documents. Unfortunately, in these cases, the Common Application organization must reiterate the policy that documents cannot be retrieved or edited once submitted. Schools are aware that mistakes happen and students are not penalized.

Recommenders: You can contact the student to have him/her remove your assignment to any school besides the school named in your letter. There is no way to retract it once it is submitted.

Counselors: The Optional Report may be used at any point in the academic year to submit updated grades and/or transcripts, as well as to correct errors previously submitted on any report, but it should not be used as a substitute for the Mid Year or Final Report.

Keep in mind that this Optional Report form can only be submitted once during the school season.

Thank you very much for the assistance, @isaelijohjac!
I will have to work around the error, clearly.

@Bemusedfyz When you go to your recommenders/counselors (manage recommenders) do you see a trash can next to his/her name? If not (which I am almost certain there won’t be) there is nothing you can do except add to the submission.

Nope, I don’t. It is clearly at the stage where I have to look forwards and make the best of what has already happened-- it is set in stone. Thanks for trying! @isaelijohjac
