Alright, so at "MyTritonLink" it says I got accepted into Bioengineering:

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of California, San Diego, I congratulate you on your admission to Warren College as a major in Bioengineering!

However, I just received the UCSD welcome packet in the mail today, and part of the letter read:

[quote]
Please note, if you selected Bioengineering, Bioengineering:Biotechnology, Computer Engineering (CSE or ECE), or computer science as a major, additional screening for admission to those majors is being conducted by the department, and you will be notified in writing of the decision after receipt of this letter.

Does that mean I might not get bioengineering as my major?

Yep. After the university and college approve you, the department still has to check that you're up-to-snuff and worthy of their program. This early in the process, they should have no reason to do anything. I just got a nice welcome letter from the Jacobs School.

What do you mean by "up-to-snuff"? Do I get to stay in bioengineering as long as I maintain the 3.0W senior year grade requirement?

When do they notify you if you got in or not?

If Tritonlink says you have that major, then you got in. You should be getting a letter from Jacobs soon.

Err, could anyone else comment on this please? I'm getting two opposing responses >_>

Same, please elaborate... this is huge in my college decision because one of the reasons I might choose UCSD over U-Washington is that I'm already in the major at UCSD, while at UW, I'd have to reapply for the major after osphomroe year.

I applyed for Computer Science, and thus am in the same situation as all of you. It sounds like yes you go under additional screening and there is a possibility of you not being accepted under that major and being send to an undeclared engineering major.

They way I interpreted it was that for example Computer Science and Computer Engineering are impacted and admit within that one major. Thus they have to even out the field between the two majors. I dunno, just a theory. Just watch for your letters soon =/

Unless things have changed in the last few years, you're first admitted (or not) to UCSD then, if you applied for engineering, the app is forwarded to Jacobs School of Engineering for an admission decision into that school. You should receive a letter from them stating whether you were admitted to Jacobs or not. If you weren't, you can still go to UCSD in another major - just not engineering. If you don't get the letter in a reasonable time, contact the school of engineering and ask them about it.

God I am going to end up as a broken record aren't I?

Your application is reviewed by UCSD. THEN, your application, if necessary, is reviewed by the department.

THIS IS BEFORE YOU FIND OUT IF YOU ARE ACCEPTED INTO UCSD. YOU DO NOT GET SCREENED AFTER YOU HAVE ALREADY FOUND OUT.

MEANING,

Tritonlink will tell you what your major is, and that is it.
