I am a senior, and I need to take the ACTs one last time. How should I organize my studying? My ACT dates is 12/13/14. Please help! My ACT score is suffering, so I need to bring it up.
Also, I have test anxiety. Is there a way to not have test anxiety? Honestly, I feel like my nervousness affects my scores a lot.

Follow this plan carefully.

1) Take one full practice test per week until then. Maybe fit in two. But never on consecutive days. Learn from your mistakes on said tests. The ACT uses similar traps and such on each assessment.

2) During those practice tests, emulate the timing and test conditions as much as possible. That means using a timer, an actual bubble sheet, etc. TAKE THE FULL TEST WITH NO BREAKS. This definitely helps with fatigue. Try to find a kitchen timer that ticks. The ticking will pressure you to increase your speed. It definitely did with mine. But not too fast, now.

3) To beat your test anxiety, just relax. It’s just one test. It’s not an assessment of your academic worth, in spite of what the general consensus here is, it’s just a college entrance exam. Have some perspective.

4) The day before the test, exercise. Don’t do a practice test, don’t worry about what’s going to be on the test, etc. Just go out have a light jog, pick up sticks, etc. Also be sure to go to bed early. Don’t stay up.

5) Don’t freak out during the test. If a question is hard, guess and go on. Go back if there’s time. Just open the test. And answer the questions. It sounds a lot less scary now doesn’t it? I think so.

6) After the test, don’t obsess about about how you did. There’s nothing you can do about it, so just enjoy your life and don’t let it bother you. My biggest recommendation is to stay off of College Confidential during said time.

Also: don’t be surprised if the test format is a bit different from your practice tests.

Plain and best advice: Practice tests x (insert the highest number possible for you)

Also, unlike hawkeye, I took a new practice test every day for two weeks before the exam date, mostly because to keep the flow (until the day before the test).
