URGENT: Senior Year Schedule Advice

Hey guys. I am a senior in high school and would like your opinion on what I should have as my schedule in order to maximise my chances at Harvard.

Right now, I have the following:
AP English Language
Advanced Topics (post-AP math class)
AP BC Calculus
AP US Gov (1st semester) / AP Comparative Gov (2nd semester)
Public Speaking
AP Psycology
AP Physics

Currently, I only have 2 years of a foreign language (Spanish 2 & Spanish History/Culture). I was thinking about taking Honors Spanish 4, but that would have to be in place of AP US Gov and AP Comparative Gov...

Would it be better for me to drop both AP Gov classes in order to take Honors Spanish 4, or should I keep them?

Also, I will most likely drop public speaking since it will hurt my GPA since it is not an AP class + I will probably need a free period in order to have enough time for all of my AP & advanced courses. This "free period" will not show up on my transcript that is sent to colleges. Is this a smart thing to do or will it kill my chances?

Thanks so much for the last minute help! My final schedule is due tomorrow.

At most colleges, including HYP, taking AP Spanish Language is a much better option than taking AP Gov or AP Comp Gov, as it will result in college credit down the road, whereas Gov will get you no credit at all.

“. . . a score of 5 on the German, French (language or literature), Italian, Spanish (language or literature), or Latin (either Latin Literature or Latin: Vergil) Advanced Placement tests may be used to fulfill the language requirement.”

“The following College Board Advanced Placement examinations may NOT be used for eligibility: Comparative Government and Politics”

For Yale, see: http://yalecollege.yale.edu/content/table-acceleration-credit</a>.</p>

For Princeton, see: http://www.princeton.edu/pub/ap/table/</a></p>

You clearly have a rigorous schedule.
I assure you, no admission officer is going to say:
“Oh, if he/she took AP Spanish instead of AP Gov, we would have admitted him, but now, nahhhhh, that AP. Gov just killed his chances… REJECT!”

How about you take the course that most interests you?

I’m with Gibby. I think a 4th yr of Span is frankly, much more practical than AP Gov. You’ll assuredly be taking Span in college. I’d do my best to keep the skills fresh.

most top school require 4 years of a foreign language. I know that Penn does for sure.
