The May 1st deadline is so close and I’m currently deciding between USC and Northwestern.
When I originally applied to USC I only applied to the Dornsife College of Arts and Sciences. But now, I really want to pursue journalism at Annenberg. I was already accepted to the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern, but I’d rather study journalism at USC.
So, is there any way I can transfer to Annenberg before the start of my Freshman year? Is so, how can I do this?
No… I do not believe so. But it should be relatively easy to apply during your first semester at USC and officially start in the program by Spring 2019. It is very common to do so. Just register as if you are planning to major in journalism and score a 3.0 or better for your first semester grades. You will still clearly be on target.
Switching between Dornsife majors is easy and can be accomplished immediately. Switching between Schools within USC usually at least requires one semester to accomplish. For example, my younger daughter applied to SCA in July and was admitted for the Spring by October… thus switching from Undeclared to SCA.
But you can also always email Annenberg Advising and simply ask… ascjadv@usc.edu // or call (213) 740-0900
If you have an admissions advisor, email them today, with deadline this close they may be working over the weekend. If not do as wwward said and call them tomorrow. Keep in mind there are a lot of GEs and other requirements to take, so you can likely still get into the exact classes you would anyway. Moving between certain schools/majors can be done before orientation, but Annenberg has always been a bit of a mystery to me. Please let us know what you hear and good luck!
