I'm currently enrolled at CMU, but I was accepted into Vandy off the waitlist today. Can you guys give me some input on the pros/cons of each school and which would be a better choice in the short/long run? I'm paying roughly the same for both schools. I'm an Asian male, and I'm thinking about majoring in math or econ. I'm not 100% sure about what I want to do in the future, although I'm interested in business (proprietary trading).

Also, one more thing. I'll be majoring in econ at CMU (and probably try to transfer into Tepper later on) and econ or math at Vandy. Which school has better job opportunities post-graduation? I want to work either in the northeast or in California after college.

Thanks!

well if ur going into econ or business id stay at cmu just cuz they are similar academic quality wise and at least if u get into tepper youll be in a business school which is nice for job outlook after undergraduate . vandy doesnt have a business school.

Thanks for the input!

CMU has career survey results of graduates publicly available:
[Salaries & Destinations-Career and Professional Development Center - Carnegie Mellon University](http://www.studentaffairs.cmu.edu/career/salaries-and-destinations/)

Vanderbilt does not seem to produce one upon searching its web site.

Both great schools.

If a month ago, you had been admitted into both Vandy and CMU (with the same Financial Aid packages you have now), where would you have chosen? Why?

If CMU were your preferred school (for whatever your reasons), I think you should go there. If Vandy – then I’d recommend switching.

As far as which school is better – putting aside differences in Ranking – One could argue in favor of either school. They’re both top schools. FWIW, I’d personally choose Vanderbilt, but that’s irrelevant.
