Ok, my common app essay is 660 words, and I emailed the Harvard admin on the 27th asking if that is alright. I never got a reply in time, so I just submitted it online. Then, I got a reply yesterday (Jan. 3rd) saying it's ok, but that it might be a good idea to mail it since it might get cut off online. Well, what the **** AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? SCEA acceptees, anyone with a 650+ essay?

dude chill out
the common app essay limit is like 6000 CHARACTERS which i think is about a 1000 word essay

You're supposed to print-preview to see if any of your essay will be cut off (since what you see in print-preview is exactly what the admission officers will see). Even though it will allow 6000 letters to be -typed-, the essay starts to get cut off at around 4000+ characters. I think this shouldn't be a problem for about 660 words, but you should definitely check.

thanks krypton..... so I print previewed, and it didn't cut off. that's alright then??!

hannanaq, i was perfectly chilled and partied on new years eve (more like celebratin the end of my apps!) till 7AM until i got that freakin return email from harvard. I had totally forgotten about that.

Yeah, panther, you're fine.

ok good, cause mine is 663 :)
