URI Honors vs SUNY Binghamtom

I was accepted into the URI Honors program in English with academic scholarship money. Also considering Binghamton for same major. Both schools will cost the same. Looking for the best for total college experience. I know academically Binghamton is suppose to be better. Both have pros and cons. Main concern about URI is that is might be a suit case school. Binghamton is that it is kinda out there by itself. Just looking for some input. Thanks.

Moving to top

Ok I’ll bite: caliber of students at Binghamton compared to URI is like apples to oranges…no idea about the honors program @URI though…didn’t even know they had one; kids from our public HS who are “C” students will be attending URI next year fwiw…Binghamton, on the other hand, attracts the top of the NYS students year after year…

but fit is fit…where did you feel more at home? and what about financial considerations?

That is one of my dilemmas. I felt at home at both. Both schools are about 3 hours from my home. I like both campuses. Financially they both are about the same (Both are out of state). The only difference I feel, as I stated in my OP is that in-state students at URI might go home on weekends whereas Binghamton seems like more of the students stay on campus due to the fact a large number are from the NYC area. I also like the fact that URI is a short train ride away from Providence and Boston. I did not know that URI had an honors program when I applied, but a few months after my acceptance letter, I received another letter about the honors program. In fact, I was away on a school trip, and a Professor from the Honors Program called our home encouraging me to come to URI, and I would be with other students on the same “level” with me. I know that academically Binghamton has a better reputation. Big decision just want to leave no stones unturned. Thanks for your response.
