URM question

<p>Yeah it's pretty sad that I'm half Filipino and have no idea of the country's history.</p>

<p>Filipinos are NOT Hispanics. Having a Hispanic surname does not necessarily mean that person is Hispanic. Also, People who do not have Hispanic surnames are sometimes Hispanics. </p>

<p>In this country (USA), we keep the father's last name, ie John Smith. However, plain old John Smith may have a white person's name... but his mother may be named Maria Garcia de Smith. In Hispanic countries, John Smith would be called, Juan Smith Garcia.</p>
