i wanted to know if certan hispanics are preferred over others because on the college app it says separately mexican/chicano and puerto rican, and theres a whole nother choice for latino/hispanic...if it has nothing to do with preference then if someone knew the answer to why they do that that would be cool

bump?.....

I would like to know too. I doubt anyone knows the answer though.

Also something interesting I found was that Carnegie Mellon specifically asks if a student is Hispanic or not (on the application itself, it's actually before the Ethnicity)

if anyone out there knows about these questions please take a minute and respond...thanks

I cannot remember where I read this, but I have heard that out of all hispanics, the mexican/chicano group is the least represented and so schools look for kids applying from that group specifically. being mexican/chicano may give a student a slight tip in admissions, depending on their scores and where they are applying.

thanks anyone elsE?

Mexican/Chicanos and Puerto Ricans are the most favored because they are the majority of Hispanics in the U.S., and also are the least likely to be college bound.

hey thanks for the response...also id like to know if it is a substantial amount of preference or if it is just a bit
