UROP freshman year

So I was accepted to UROP this year as a freshman, but I’m not sure if I should do it. While it is something I will do for sure eventually, I know it demands a lot of time. I was hoping to start this year looking towards a CS degree in LSA and pre med. Should I do UROP? Has anyone here done UROP freshman year and can offer insight? I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew in my first year in college, and I still want time to do things outside of academics.

@whizkid98 I would recommend you do it. It’s a nice opportunity to get guaranteed research from the start. Also, you have the first 9 weeks of classes (3 weeks for non-freshman) to decide whether you want to drop a class or not without penalty. Honestly, it’s better to schedule too heavy than too light because you have that time during your first 3-9 weeks to decide if you want to lighten up your schedule.

Thanks, I forgot about dropping classes! I guess I can try it out for a few weeks then @hailbate
