As I mentioned in the title, I am an incoming junior in high school. I live about an hour away from Los Angeles, so I decided to come to UCLA as a summer sessions student, since it is one of my top choices for university. I was pretty careless, so for my midterm I got a C. This lowered my grade substantially, and the grade is compromised of 2 midterms (25% each) and a final which is worth 50%. I’m sure if I put in enough effort, I could pass my 2 other tests with 90% and above, however it’s doubtful that it would increase enough to be an A.
So, I’m considering whether or not I should switch to pass/no pass, which is a C and above, or whether I should have a letter grade… Some of my classmates have told me that it is a bit frowned upon by admissions officers, however I’m wondering if it would be better to have “pass” rather than to show them my actual grade.
I am a pretty responsible student usually, (I took 3 AP classes sophomore year and passed 2/3 of them with 5’s, I’m taking 5 AP courses next year, and I’m ranked #4 in my class of 760, my UC GPA is around a 4.83) I’m hoping that this will be enough, but I’m really kicking myself right now for failing my midterm!
