For those of you who have gotten an 800 (or other high score) on US History, could you tell us what prep books you used? Also, whatever you used, what scores did you get on the practice tests, like were they harder than the actual test?
And does anyone know the scale for what raw score out of how many total do you need to get an 800?
Oh, and if anyone took sparknotes tests, could you post your score on sparknotes and the actual exam? and barrons also? thanks.

790 Sparknotes, 790 real exam - they're pretty good tests. Kaplan also predicted 790 as well.

Sparknotes tests are good--I got between 730 and 770 on them, and then ended up with an 800 on the exam.

As far as actual review books, I suggest AMSCO wholeheartedly.

On Barron's, I typically got 30-40 wrong, so I wouldn't really say that's very accurate. They had so many terms I had never heard before; taking those things was a nightmare.

I got 710-770 on about five sparknotes tests and 800 on the real thing.

I also recommend AMSCO.

is the barrons us history really that bad? THats the one i have

I don't know...to be completely honest, I didn't put very much effort into them. However, I really don't believe they're that accurate compared to the test. If you can get good scores on them, though, I'm pretty sure you'll do amazingly on the real thing. Just know that you're way overpreparing if you use it.

760-Kaplan tests/Collebeboard tests... There will most always be something on a test that will be so obscure you don't really know what to do... in that case, I would reason as much as possible or just leave the question be. My AP preparation was the major portion of studying I did though. I did tons of REA APUSH tests to prep for the APUSH exam and that helped alot in preparation for the USH SATII.

Sparknotes: 650, 700, 720, 780
Real Test: 770

I also used the AMSCO book.

I used AMSCO as well bc I was studying for the AP exam. You can't go wrong with this book.
I took the collegeboard Blue Subject Tests Book and got a 720 3 weeks before the test. I reviewed the topics that I missed, and ended up with a 760 on the actual exam.

Princeton, but I mostly relied on what I learned throughout the AP course.

the barron's has ridiculously difficult tests. i remember barely getting 75% of the questions correct. nonetheless the material contained is quite comprehensive.

800 for me and 5 on the AP

use AMSCO

730 Sparknotes
800 real test

So, everyone here bought a sparknotes test for like $6? is there a cheaper way?

You get a free sparknotes test for every account you create. Just make as many as you need.

i just used my AP REA study book
it was around the same time anyway...

I used AMSCO and think it really helped

I also used barrons, which I liked for my APs. However I thought it was really bad, and stopped using it. Also in its practise tests I was scoring like a 500. But on the actual thing I got an 800.

Is AMSCO a Text book or just a review?

AMSCO is a company. they have a book on preparing for the ap us history test.

This test is hard, lol.

No one in my school had ever gotten a 800. I got a 750 even with a 5 in AP!

SAT US Hisotory for dummies - it's actually fun to read.
