US History Preparation

Hi,

I was wondering what prep books/study methods I should use to study for the upcoming November USH subject test. I took APUSH last year, took the USH Subject Test once, but am looking to improve my score.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It depends what score you’re looking to get…but, I’d recommend just reading as much material as possible. I wanted an 800 on the most recent US subject test so I read the AP US Princeton Review Book, the Princeton Review US Subject Test Book, and the US Sparknotes online. I also took a bunch of practice tests and studied all the terms on sparknotes, but once again…the preparation that goes into the test is all relative to the score you are looking to get.

Thanks!

Well, I’m aiming for as high as possible, but it doesn’t have to be an 800. I have the REA prep book and plan to go through that before the test – any thoughts regarding that prep book?

Yeah, I have that book for AP Euro, and it serves a good ‘outline’ for all the material. Though most people, including me, would recommend AMSCO’s APUSH study guide (it’s for AP US History, but its material serves well for anything USH).
