US History

I'm an International Student whose planning to sit US History and World History December.

Does it matter which subjects I sit? I'm more aiming for Psychology/Philosophy/Visual Arts, so it shouldnt affect me dramatically not to do any sciences. I do have a 690 in Biology, but I'm applying to more selective colleges, so I'm not confident using anything below 750.

Because I'm not a US Student, US History wasn't in my curriculum. I am a History buff though, and wouldn't mind studying/reading 4-5 hours a day. I also have 6 months left till the December date, so do you think it's doable? If you think so could you suggest a textbook to buy? I'm not talking about the regular "SAT" labelled review guides and crunch books, but a full layout.

It doesn’t really matter what subjects you take, but it might be a good idea to take a test which is non-history related in addition to your history tests so colleges can see a diverse skillset.

American Pageant is probably the best USH textbook to buy. For reviewing specific concepts, however, I would recommend REA Crash Course US History; it covers basically all the history you need to know for the test in an extremely condensed manner.

Thanks Kirstr. I’ll probably attempt Literature aswell. Good thing some of the colleges will accept A Levels, which Ive been tested under, so I’ll probably look more “diverse” then.
