Hi I'm in a junior going into senior next school year.
I am planning to take SAT ii US history and Bio in the upcoming October
Can you suggest 2-3 books for each subject so I can self study until October and get around 750-800?? (I'll take both tests then)
I have some background knowledge of US history and Bio, but I don't think it is that thorough.
Especially, US history I only have a brief understanding.
For Bio, I'm thinking of taking M instead of E but it is just tentative since I don't even know (yet) my strengths and weaknesses.
By the way, I will be taking international test, not US test.

I have heard that
US history: Essential Content ( is that same with Direct Hits us history in a flash?), AMSCO, and sparknotes are good.
But I feel like that will be overwhelming since it's like two textbooks? (or is that necessary?)
BC/ I originally thought one book that will be like reference textbook that I will study mostly from and few other for extra references plus practices would be nice.

For Biology, I already purchased Barron's, but I haven't started going through it though.
So I would want 1-2 more so that I get enough understanding and practice.

For US History, AMSCO is enough for an 800. If you want a review book that is more concise and focuses more on main ideas, I would buy the REA AP US History Crash Course book. I used both and looked through the entire AMSCO book the week before the test and got a 790.

For bio, if you want something in addition to Barron’s (which I think would suffice on its own), I would get Cliffnotes AP Biology. It’s designed for the AP exam and is much more detailed so I don’t think it’s necessary. But go ahead and buy it if you think it would help.

Just get The Essential Content. It’s nearly the same as Direct Hits. The only difference is that The Essential Content is somewhat beefed up for the AP with more special essay sections.

Regarding AMSCO for SAT II USH Hopefully, this will be the last word …

Using AMSCO can be both deleterious to your score and sanguinary to your eyes. AMSCO is hogwash. Just get The Essential Content and call it a day for SAT II USH book shopping.

Regarding Crash Course for SAT II USH

Crash Course is tangentially related to The Essential Content. Both are sired by the same author, but Crash Course is like that inbred cousin. You know, lacking - in more ways than one.

Crash Course isn’t enough for the SAT II USH exam. Only The Essential Content is. Among the things that Crash Course lacks are information regarding Native Americans, battles, and recent demographic trends, all of which show up on the SAT II USH exam.

Which book for the SAT II USH exam if I want an eight double 0?

The Essential Content. Author: Larry Krieger.

Only if you are interested: further information regarding SAT II USH prep books:

Because I live outside of US, I have to buy all the books at the same time… shipping and stuff is really annoying…!
So I think I will buy

US HISTORY
Essential content
Sparknotes 5 tests
and The Collegeboard’s history study guide

BIOLOGY
Barron’s (I have)
Cliffnotes

And I don’t believe that there is any study guide for bio from collegeboard right?

Hopefully studying my brains off those books will be sufficient to get me 750+!!!
I don’t mind having to study a lot of books, as long as through the process I’m well prepped for the October test. So let me know if I need anything else…!

I’m kind of worried for the SAT IIs because the SAT I proved to be harsher than my expectation… I just got my June score… it was a dismal experience. xD this is a fake smile…
