International Student---SAT U.S History???

I am an international student. I was wondering whether it would be considered wise to take the US History Subject Test. I plan on taking it in October before the ED Deadline. I am actually quite interested in U.S History but I'm not sure how wide the scope of the test is. I am definitely capable of reading for sustained periods of time and have already been using Wikipedia(not the most reliable, I know) and an AP US History Textbook

Do you think i could possibly have a chance of cracking like 700 if i read like an hour or two a day of history from now till like october?

bumpppppppppppppppp

I don’t think you should spread it out that way. Not sure how it goes with others, but for me SAT US His is a lot of brute memorization of simple facts and not much thinking, and the scope is pretty wide, so if you spread it out over 6 months you may forget what you learned in April when the Oct test date comes.

My advice: start studying seriously for about 4 - 6 weeks. By seriously I’m talking about 3-4 hours/ day. You should crack 700 easily if your memory is good. FYI, I got 690 on my first try with less studying than this schedule and no prior course in US History.

cool

could you recommend a textbook
or atleast a syllabus

Using textbook is pretty much ineffective for SAT US His I think. SAT prep books are better. You can try McGraw Hill, Princeton Review, and Barron. Three SAT books should be enough for 700.
