"I expected much more out of a Northwestern student."

-Funny, I expect absolutely nothing from an Emory student.

Only if you do the same for the um.... Checks Wikipedia.... Eagles.
The only reason I know the Wildcats is I watch collegiate sports. I've seen Northwestern's games with other schools in their league, like Iowa, Purdue and Michigan State.

Unfortunately Emory-University of Chicago games aren't televised.

-Funny, I expect absolutely nothing from an Emory student.

Well that's a failure on your part.

"The only reason I know the Wildcats is I watch collegiate sports. I've seen Northwestern's games with other schools in their league, like Iowa, Purdue and Michigan State."

Let's see how many people here can name which rinky dink league Emory's in...

"Unfortunately Emory-University of Chicago games aren't televised."

-Sad. It's a great feeling watching your school on tv...

You can stand by your non sequitur all day, but it won't make it logical.

"but it won't make it logical."

-Things are not illogical simply because YOU say so. If you'd like to say why you believe my opinion to be illogical then so be it. If not, drop it.

Do you even know what a non sequitur fallacy is? Would you care to explain how my argument is one, or were you just using words to sound smart again?

I'm not speaking in formal logic because formal logic does not deal with fallacies involving faulty premises, which is exactly what you've done.

You effectively stated that if one attacks someone for no reason then they are likely to also be a person who thinks writing using big words is an effective way to impress people. This happened when you said "-Not people, just you. After all, it was you who started attacking me for no reason;" This statement in its totality can be considered a premise (if A then B where A=one attacks someone for no reason and B=one will also think that writing using big words is an effective way to impress people). A reasonable person rejects your premise because there is no reason to suggest any correlational or causational relationship between the two.

Not only is the relationship extremely ambiguous, the original premise that I attacked you for absolutely no reason is highly suspect. This makes it a non sequitur (again, not in formal logic).

At this point you are simply trying to get me to argue semantics with the assumption that I'm not prepared to do so. Unfortunately I don't have to be at work until noon and it's 5:40AM now.

Edit: I'm arguing against your inductive logic, not your deductive logic. Apparently you are unaware that logical fallacies do not apply to inductive reasoning.

lets face it..
emory is an excellent school but i 've seen four people with SAT scores of 1860-1900 easily get in. I am not exaggerating. it tells something.

I'm searching for the relevance of this here? This is not a school v school argument.

I'm also tickled that you describe someone as getting in "easily" as if we know how long the adcoms debated and then you say you're not exaggerating.

This is awesome.

Fires love having fuel added to them so I'll throw in that between NW and Emory, I only filled out an application for Emory

The donation figures are money actually received. Many large pledges are paid in over a number of years to maximize the tax deduction advantages. So the figures are correct. On Wisconsin!

Thanks for explaining that barrons. It makes sense.

Both of you stop, please. Emory and Northwestern are both top colleges.

By the way KK, please don't make statements like this:

"Funny, I expect absolutely nothing from an Emory student."

seriously, i'm not even following this thread b/c both schools are great but thats messed up.

This debate is funny because neither Emory nor Northwestern are even in the top 10 and thus aren't worth even talking about, let alone getting all riled up over.

This is not a school vs school discussion.

"By the way KK, please don't make statements like this:

'Funny, I expect absolutely nothing from an Emory student.'"

I don't expect anything from students of any school; I'd much rather treat people individually - not have preconceived notions of them based on their schools. This is much less a slight at Emory and her students than a general way of treating people.

Emory is weak sauce..........

Woah.......

I think all schools in the top 25 are worth looking at, all awesome

Emory vs Northwestern

what a joke?

Emory SAT average is a 1350 and Northwestern is a 1400.......
