US News Rankings Back in '97

I posted this in the UChicago forum, and thought it might be of interest here:

1997 National Universities, 1-25: USNews - edu

These are the full '97 US News college rankings. They came out the year Penn made its move into the top ten, and many years before UChicago started to play the big numbers admissions game.

Some of the stats are fascinating - such as UChicago being #3 in the nation for academic reputation, but #27 for student selectivity. Similarly, while Penn has really upped its game in terms of faculty resources and financial resources, at the time, it was ranked in the mid-teens by these metric.

Generally, I think the specific metric rankings (e.g. selectivity, faculty resources, etc.) have stayed about the same for pretty much all the top ~15 schools, save for UChicago (which made big strides in traditional admissions) and Penn (improving its standing in terms of financial/faculty resources).
