Except for the fact that nowhere in the USNews ranking methodology is there any consideration for "writing" and "medical programs."

too bad i'm going to ucsd, and UCSD is > UCReject

Well I think US news rankings are insignificant. I am also attending ucsd in the fall 2006. It's safe to say UCSD is not inferior to UCR. Rankings mean most to insecure people. A number doens't mean anything. Rankings are skewed, different sources measure different components.

nineohnine - why must you be so hostile? are you feeling a tad insecure?

Why would I feel insecure? There's nothing wrong with UC Riverside. #85 isn't bad. UCR shares its #85 spot with other prestigious and well-know institutions like: American University (DC), Auburn University (AL), Iowa State U, Marquette University (WI), University of Denver, University of Missouri - Columbia, and University of Tennessee. The county of Riverside is ranked #1 for pollution in the United States. Last time I checked, #1 is the best. So eat it.

what are the components being judged? Ask different people, and you'll get different answers. How did the county of riverside come into play? We're talking about academic institutions here?

"eat it" ..UGH...ohkayy...

Well, I guess you could ASK different people what US News considers when it makes its rankings (as Vii suggests).....

What I like to do is actually READ the article, because there's a page on METHODOLOGY that tell you exactly what factors they consider.

...but to each his own.

Oh, P.S.: UCR is located IN Riverside County. That means that you breathe the pollution IN Riverside County.
