US News Rankings?

In the next couple of years is UCR going to move up or down in the rankings?

i think it will probly stay pretty much the same

it will move up because of UC Merced.... no one has gauranteed admission to UCR anymore cuz they have gaurenteed admission to merced.... so UCR will move up a notch in selectivity

So in other words UCM is the new "dumpster" school of the UC system?

yep... that is correct. if you thought riverside was a bad city... wait til you see merced!!! omg

It can't be worse than Riverside! Riverside has a high crime rate, and terrible weather..

merced is worse than riverside.... trust me. at least riverside is like a 45 minute to 1 hour drive from LA.... merced is close to NOTHING except yosemite national park.

UC Riverside is actually going up every year in the US News Ranking.
2 years ago it was at 120ish. Last year it was at 87. This year we're at 81.

I predict by the end of 2010ish we'll be at least in the top 50's. UCR is rapidly growing and it'll just keep going up while the other UC's are idling.

That's if... you want to go by their "hard" facts.

It's no the upswing, people.

Its gone down to 85!

no, it's gone UP to 85.

Wasn't last year 83? The latest ranking for UCR is 85.

Seems like UCSC made a huge jump this year and landed in 68.

whoa that is a huge jump

UCSD and UCI are making progress too.

I remember UCSC and UCR were pretty close last year in ranking. However UCSC rose to rank 68 and UCR lower their ranking to 85.

since when were those rankings so accurate

I think UCR's ranking would go up a lot if they put all the buildings onto trucks and moved the campus OUT of Riverside.

909

How are the other UCs idling?! All of the UCs have been progressing like crazy...especially the mid tiers

But rankings don't really mean much.

Students attending low-ranking colleges tend to believe things like "Rankings don't mean much anyway," because it's easier than admitting that they are affiliated with a truly inferior school. It's called "cognitive dissonance."

909

Riverside will probably be in the top 70 within two years due to their writing and medical programs.
