The informational packet we’re talking about will be automatically sent to you. To get the application, it looks like we’re being highly encouraged to apply online based on the language in the packet. It says that you can download the application and print it out by going to usc.edu/uga (assuming they mean here: [Transfer Students - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/transfer.html))

Yeah, so basically you just get the booklet and paper app if you request one so really no one is missing out on anything. If you’re posting on this forum then chances are you are doing your research and have gone through the app and information on the usc website already.

Just to clarify again:

is anyone going to the transfer fair on friday? i dont have a reservatoin but my school is going to have some kind of tour thing on the 13th so i don’t know if it’s the same thing or not. what times does the transfer fair last and is it like a big event on campus or just bleh

I’ve applied! I’m extremely nervous, USC Honors is my top choice by far, I have the GPA and the SAT but it’s very possible I’ll get rejected and then I won’t know where to go to school…

wow, applied already? why so early?

hey how long is transfer day at USC ?
presentation+ financial aid presentation
and the academic fair ?

thanks

Trojan1234: When I went, it started at 9, and ended by noon.

Why would anyone want to go to USC? Save your money. University of Spoiled Children.

brutus0310 is a ■■■■■

eleonhardt: Looks like that makes at least two of us that have finished applying. I’m just waiting to apply for financial aid, etc. It’s the wait that is killing me :/!

Does anyone know if where you input your GPA in the application if you need to put your cumulative or the one from your most recent institution?

I have a question for you guys.

Would my chances of transferring into USC be the same if I went to a community college other than Santa Monica? Like if I got the same grades, same GPA, good ec’s, and took about the same classes would they be the same?

If I don’t go to SMC, I’ll be at San Diego Mesa Community College. I really want to go to SMC but I don’t think I can afford living there for a year or two. Rent is really expensive I have relatives that live in San Diego so I can always room with them, they wouldn’t mind. So money wouldn’t matter as much.

I’d be willing to try to move to SMC if I find a couple roommates and a decent apartment for a decent price. Just want to see what you guys think.

AMorrison: For instance, if you went to two different community colleges, then I would combine those. I wouldn’t combine GPAs from high school and community college. It just isn’t relevant.

xitskaibabyyy: SMC or not, I would focus on the order you take your classes. Try to be involved in your school as much as possible. Extracurricular is important if you are not working. On the other hand, if you are working, make sure you extend yourself to show that you are using your time wisely. For example: I was taking 13 units, working 50-65 hours per week (two jobs), taking on an internship, and keeping a roof over my head the whole time.

If you want to move to Santa Monica, just keep in mind the burdens you are taking on; weigh them carefully against the time it will take you to complete your lower-division courses. Perform well not only academically, but in all facets of your life. You will do fine so long as you maintain your goals and keep yourself in check.

Best of luck to you.

SkylineisMine: Thanks a lot! There are just so many factors to keep in mind. I just think that if I go to SMC, I’ll have a higher chance of getting into USC (even if everything was parallel). I mean come on, SMC sends around 100 students to USC every year while San Diego Mesa only sends less than 5.

I just got a huge viewbook in the mail from the School of Policy, Planning and Development. Looking through it just made me want to go to USC even more!

xitskaibabyyy: Ask yourself these questions:

How many from your school actually apply to USC?
What are their GPAs? (Not to say that GPA is the sole decision-maker)
What is the demographic in Santa Monica?
What is the demographic in San Diego?
Keep in mind also that people at SMC do apply to UCLA as well – this number is fairly high as I understand.

Case-in-point, I go to school at IVC and barely anyone applies and gets accepted to USC (I think the number was around 5 or so). Or rather, if they do, they have a sub-par performance or just see UCI or Cal State Fullerton as something to fall back on. Another thing that I noticed was that we have a plethora of universities come to our school – UCI, CSUF, CSULB – and offer informational workshops. USC has only been to my school twice, and I’ve been asking the transfer center to sponsor a guided tour and information session (which still hasn’t happened).

I imagine that the majority of the students at your immediate school apply mostly to UCSD, etc. How often are you going to get a USC rep down there? Make the effort, and I think you will be okay.

ANY International Relations and International Relations/Global Business majors OUT THERE ???

fight on!!

It’s my second choice, if that counts? My first choice major is History. When I applied last year, I applied as an IR major.

AMorrison, what are your stats if you don’t mind sharing?
