USC 2010 Transfer Thread

Hey guys! I’m a Spring transfer student at USC and can’t believe that January is just around the corner… I thought it’d never come but now I can’t wait to start! Good luck to everyone who is applying this year and remember to stay calm and focused while submitting applications. Gooooo Trojans!

Quick question for Marshall transfer applicants, is it absolutely required that I complete my pre-reqs before Feb 1?

@ molamann no, it is not ABSOLUTELY required you complete your pre-reqs before Feb 1st, but you should try to complete them during this year, if you are on a quarter system, you should have them done by march and send them in immediately, which will make it in time for the reviewing process of applications in April. If you do not have them done during the time they review applications and are finishing them in June, then the admissions office will wait till they get your grades and notify you in July, keep in mind class begins in August 20ish so try to get them done as soon as possible.

If i want to transfer as a sophomore do i have to send my SAT scores even if i will have more than 30 units by the end of spring? GPA:3.75 And if i do what SAT score would be good? 1700s?

No. If you have more than 30 units (In progress will count towards that 30), then you will NOT have to send in SAT scores.

Thats a big relief don’t have to spend money on sending them then. Thanks brianlee

does anyone know where I can find transfer statistics for USC? specifically for viterbi. Im just curious what the avg. gpa’s etc. where.

Also, do I need to input a score where it asks for the scores? or do i just leave it blank?

In regards to the University of California situation, it’s hard for me to imagine students leaving the UC and transferring to private schools like USC which will still cost TWICE as much even after the 30+% raise in tuition costs at the UC.

Sigh, I’ve had my mind set on Marshall for a while now but after struggling with College Algebra(lol, first math class in 4 years) and pulling teeth with Accounting and Econ(though I still have an A,) I am seriously reconsidering my major to Poly Science or Eastern Asian Studies.

How competitive are Poly Science and EAAS? I know for a fact there’s a lot of applicants for Poly Science so I know there’s quite a bit of competition but I’m not quite sure in what extent. In addition, I don’t know if the low applicants for EAAS is going to make it that much harder or that much easier… :/

Hi, I have a question. I’m a transfer student applying for Fall next year and I’m pretty desperate for help.
I noticed that I MAY want to major in Music Industry. The problem is Thornton’s app is due in a week, and I thought I wanted to apply to the liberal arts college as well, since I don’t know what I want to do yet.
First, CAN I apply to two schools? If so, how do you do this? I’m not good with stuff online and I don’t know where you choose the schools. : ( Once you turn in your app for Thornton, can you change or update your app for the liberal arts college?

Second, even if I do want to apply to Thornton, it’s kind of too late now for me, and I’m not even sure if I want to major in Music Industry as well. I noticed we can minor in music—Is this difficult to do, does everybody get a chance to do this at USC? Also, if I get into USC and I change my mind and decide I want to MAJOR in Music Industry, is this possible? Hard?

Thanks. I’m really clueless, but all the stuff on the website’s confusing.

Does USC only look at transferable classes for GPA? For example, I am a soph at a Jr College. Last year I was at the University of Arizona and received a 3.55. However, none of those classes transfer to USC and of the 17 units I am taking this semester at Jr College I received all A’s. So what would my GPA be to them?

Hi,

I was just curious if anyone knew anything about the food industry management major in Marshall Business School. It says it is for transfer students and by invitation only. Also, I am currently a Hotel Administration and Hospitality major at a four year university but I am looking to transfer to Marshall for Fall 2010. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

As a incoming transfer student at USC, is it possible to recieve a full ride from SC? i know on the website it says about need or something, but i would really like to know so i can start looking for scholarships now just in case. thank you

When I attended a transfer session last month I was told that they meet the financial needs of accepted students.

just submitted my application!! let the waiting begin!

why do u guys submit so early? due in january right? hmmm. anyway, r we allowed to reserve seats for the last ransfer day in january starting tomorrow? they said 1st of december i think,…my UC apps were rushed since servers crashed so im pretty sure im going to usc now lol

It’s due Feb 1. I’m waiting until my Fall grades are in so I can put my most recent GPA, but other than that I’m done.
