Mikey916,
of course u have a decent chance, if u write a good essay and have some other ec. r u going to sac city? im from sac too but im going to sierra

I have a 3.1 and I want to transfer to Thornton. Do I honestly have a chance? I’ve done a bunch of stuff involving music and charity work. I don’t know if I stand a chance though. I have about three more semester to go.

is anyone else gettting this message “Server Error in ‘/AdmOnlineApplication’ Application.”

i can view every part of the application except short answers quicktakes and activity summary. can anyone help me??

It happens a lot on the web site. Usually on the weekends. Don’t fret.

@tbibbs, yeah I am at Sac City.

hey you guys, I want to transfer to usc for critical studies in film and a minor in screenwriting. The thing is I live in Las Vegas, and I know that schools in California prefer people from California; what do you guys think my odds are of getting in? what percentage of people accepted to this program were from out of state?

I thought I was like the only one from Nevada trying to transfer to USC. Cool! A fellow Las Vegas transfer applicant! haha Anyway, I’ve heard it’s a low percentage and I’m pretty sure because the school is private there is no preference of in-state/out-of-state when considering applications. The good thing with a major like that is that a strong writing sample could strengthen your odds. With good ECs/letters of rec/GPA, it could definitely happen. Just have to look at the specifics for requirements of course.

Interesting thread about that topic: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/545970-acceptance-rate-usc-cinema-transfer-students.html

skyline is mine: you were right! thanks i was getting all worked up haha

Is USC need blind?

Yeah USC is need blind. According to a news article on the website “USC has the largest university-funded financial aid budget of any university in the country” and that “USC offers admission without regard to ability to pay”.

Anyone looking to transfer as a sophomore (going into freshman year right now)?

Yea I am, But when you’re trying to transfer in as a sophomore don’t they focus more on your high school record than your first year of college? Because it’s been about two years since I graduated high school and my record in high school was just average (3.3 gpa)

So the 30 transferrable credits you need; do you have to have them completed by the deadline or just be in progress of them? Cuz I’ll have around 21 by the end of fall and will be in progress of obtaining an additional 20 in the spring.

i am trying to transfer after this year which will be my freshman year. and corvin i believe that as long as you plan on finishing the 30 units by spring they do not focus on your high school record.

@tbibbs

I’m pretty sure they look at your HS record when applying as a Sophomore. You need to have 30 credits completed when applying for them not to look. The reason is that when they are reviewing your app, you only have 15-16 credits of college course material so it’s not much for them to go by. At least, that’s what I was told.

I’ll be applying as a Sophomore too but I have a couple questions do they take AP Scores into account, like if I’ve passed enough AP’s does that count as part of the 30? Also should I put the scores from AP’s that I didn’t pass? Does applying undecided differ from applying as a biologoical sciences major?

@skyline

ya you might be right. i was under the impression that as long as you are finishing 30 units by spring they only look at your college but i was not 100% sure.

Corvin/mrkman - I’m from Vegas also and there is a articulation history from csn & unlv so I know people do transfer to usc each year.

That’s pretty interesting and really good to know.

On the Part II app, when they ask for your GPA are you guys putting the GPA that shows up on your transcript, a GPA to the standard A = 4, A- = 3.7, etc. scale, or to the A = 4, B=3, etc scale? I wasn’t sure since next to the box they say A = 4 but don’t go beyond that.

It sounds like they want you to convert your GPA to their scale.
