USC 2010 Transfer Thread

Hi, I have a question about form 6 which is college academic summary. If I completed the online application, do I still need to download form 6, fill it out and mail it with the transcript?

@rhandler33 - I imagine you have a great shot at CLAS Econ and you could then minor in business if you are still interested in that subject.

@noodlesli: Yes, you must submit this separately. However, if you manage to login to your application, there should be a barcoded version for you to submit either by mail or fax. You can send this with or without your current transcripts. It gives the University an overall view of how prepared you are before and during the application process. In all cases, if you have a class your are currently taking that applies to this form, simply write “In Progress” and you will more than likely receive an SGR.

Where to find the bar code label?

Onthe cover of the envelope, write down follow-up application materials right?

@noodlesli : As I said before, you must login to your application. Once logged in, click on “Part II Undergraduate Application.” Next, click on “Forms to Download (Show),” and it will drop down two options. Click on “Transfer College Transcript Cover Sheet.” Some have posted on here that their personalized forms are not available and still must be generated. If this is the case, just complete the generic Form 6 and be sure to include your USC ID #.

@noodlesli - Any envelopes being sent to the admissions office after feb 1st are probably follow-up materials. I just made sure to put a cover sheet inside stating my name/usc id# and what documents were enclosed.

@ Kulakai - Thank you so much! Your words seriously calmed my nerves a little haha. Fight on!

will I get the usc id only after sunbmit the online application?

Hey everyone,

I know I’m rather new to the forums but I’m just about finished with my online application and figured a little camaraderie and solidarity in this extremely tense situation of couldn’t hurt.

In any case, I’m 22 yrs old. I founded a non-profit organization in my senior year of high school called U.-F.I.S.H. that trains the homeless in trades such as typing and math then sets them up with employment contracts with various companies like Wal Mart and Home Depot. The homeless get more than Thanksgiving feedings and dollar bills but rather actual skills, work ethics and a little push while the corporations get low wage employees and some good public relations. The success of the program in early stages made me not want to go to college at all despite having 7 AP’s, Debate captain and the whole shebang. So I didn’t apply anywhere and the last 3.5 years of my life has been various non-profit work under the umbrella of Pointe Hope Foundation, reading lots of philosophy cause I really love it and publishing a few short stories and poetry pieces in some local magazines. I’ve been pretty busy and happy but I finally figured out that I actually do want to go to school and become a civil rights lawyer so that I have more tools in which to help others with instead of having no credibility and no degree.

So I finally felt ready to be in school because I actually wanted to so I’ve been at Pierce College since Spring '09, completed 27 units, completing 18 more in Spring. I have a 4.0 GPA, have published 3 academic papers with professors in the philosophy department while keeping up all my non-profit work and what not.

That’s about it. I just wanted to say and I suppose have two questions:

1) From more experienced perspectives, what do my chances look like?
2) I took French I and II in high school and got an A and B respectively but none in college thus far and just saw the foreign language requirement. What should I do about this rather new and troubling development? lol

Thanks and it’s great to meet everyone!

All the Best,
Calvin

@noodlesli - If you submitted your application online by the deadline, you will have a uscid generated for you. The first thing you get in the mail/email from them confirming they received the app in time should have the id# attached to it. If not you can also contact them via email/phone to ask for it after they confirmed receiving your app. If you need to send in documents to them before then, just write your ssn# down because they can look you up just as easily using that.

Hi, I just so confused where to get usc id #?

As I said, once they receive your application, they will generate one and send it to you via mail/email. Is there a particular reason you need it right this minute?

Ok, thanks a lot. Because I sent the mail before submit my online application. So I didn’t know there have to be a usc id #. I guess I have to call the post office to recall my mail back because I didn’t include my usc id or ssn in my follow-up materials.

Kulakai, judging from the forum it seems like you know most of the logistics of this process. Do you know what the case is regarding this foreign language requirement?

Thanks again

@noodlesli - Did your mail include your full name, phone number, or mailing address? The reason it is good to include a usc id# if you have one from submitting part I online or a ssn# is it makes it super easy for them to look you up and to file your documents in the proper place.

They can still look you up with your name and mailing address but they prefer the uscid#/ssn# because it makes it easier for them. So just to be clear, your documents should make it to the correct place and you should not worry. If you have not received any correspondence from them within a few weeks then maybe contact them to follow up.

@thelongshot - Different majors have different foreign language requirements for transfer. I am only familiar with Marshall and their lack of a foreign language requirement. You should look at the transfer requirements for your specific major on their department page and if you can’t find that then try contacting admissions.

If you are applying to a major in CLAS then hopefully this will answer your question/s:

[The Language Center: Languages: Foreign Language Requirement](http://www.usc.edu/LANG_CTR/languages/flr.html)

Great, thank you so much.

Did you apply for transfer this year as well?

Hi, I do fill out the name, address, and ssn on the form 6 and 7 inside the envelope. So do you think I don’t need to recall my mail back?

I just submitted the online application and get the confirmation email. But there is no usc id # attached inside that email.

@thelongshot - I applied for transfer to marshall.

@noodlesli - Then you don’t need to worry as they will see your name/address/ssn# on the forms and that is good enough for them to file it.
