so our winter quarter is pretty much half way thru… are you going to send them your grades? i kno that they only ask for the spring ones in june but i feel that as soon as winter comes out they are important in our consideration as applicants!

@rawrsizzle- im on the semester system, but im definitely gonna send mine in. they dont review transfer apps until around april & the winter grades can only help by then.

@TheGoldFinch Did you fax them your HS transcript as well as request for your HS to mail them? Either way the date and time on a sheet you printed out doesn’t matter because there is no true deadline for the additional materials.

I handed all of the fax materials to my high school registrar. She said she would fax them out by yesterday but I haven’t received a confirmation email from USC. I guess I misunderstood, I thought my high school was just supposed to fax over the transcript. Should I call them and say “nevermind, mail it instead”?

for all the marshall transfers or other transfers that have to take the science bio/physics/chemistry GE with a lab to fulfill the requirement, what are you guys doing ? As of now I’m planning on taking during summer school if i get in to USC, but I also have another GE hanging around (the arts and letters ge) that I cant fulfill at my university due to budget cuts in classes and I might take that instead in the summer. What is everyone’s plans for that science course since it requires a lab, or what have people taken ?

@xdzzzrawr …I am taking the class and the lab currently. On a personal level, and not to sound too authoritative, you should have been better prepared for this. There was last semester and this semester that you had to do this. Plus, at Riverside you had choices to take the following classes:

SELECT FROM: GE3={BIOL 002 OR
(BIOL 005A & 05LA) OR BIOL 005B OR
(CHEM 001A & 01LA) OR (CHEM 01HA & 01HLA) OR
GEO 001 OR GEO 002 OR
(PHYS 002A & 02LA) OR PHYS 040A}

@ rhandler, we are in a quarter system and none of the above courses you mentioned are available for spring quarter or during winter quarter so I cannot take these courses. The budget cuts have cut these classes from being available to students and I cannot take it at riverside community college during the spring because it conflicts with my Stats 48 class at UCR, I was only asking to see what people’s plans were since a bio with a lab is generally more time consuming and harder than a regular miscellaneous biology course without a lab. So I was prepared for this and I have the articulation agreement with UCR bookmarked, I was just asking what other people were doing.

Have you looked into other community colleges? Many have online classes you can take for at least the science portion, and then you can do the lab possibly during summer? I apologize if I was being rude!

@ rhandler, haha it’s fine I know you’re just trying to help and thank you for your suggestions, I know alot of people on this forum don’t know that there’s an articulation agreement are often misinformed. I can’t got to other community colleges since I live near campus of UCR so it has to be around this area, I guess i’ll just have to take it during the summer :[. I’ve never heard of taking the course during the year and taking the lab separate, I always thought the lab and course had to be taken simultaneously since they both add up to the overall grade.

Is there a reason why you’re dead set on finishing every core requirement before starting in the fall? If you’re not already enrolled then it’s not going to affect your admission chances by saying you’re going to take them in the summer. I still have the scientific inquiry and global culture requirements to fulfill but after talking to some students there, I figured in the off chance I get in, it would be better (And less of a hassle) to just take them at USC.

@thegoldfinch USC wants an official high school transcript to be sent by mail, as a faxed transcript isn’t considered official. Call USC and ask if your high school faxing it is official enough.

@xdzzzrawr - I’ve never heard of you being able to take the lab separate for bio/chem either. I’m currently taking a bio 101 + lab and the lab is worth 25% of the grade in the main lecture class so you can’t take them separate. However, I also took astronomy + lab last year for fun and I know that transfers over for the GE requirement also and my school gave the option of taking them in different semesters if you wanted to.

hey guys. i was wondering… my college doesn’t have “+” and “-” grades
although my grades were always close to the next grades
i.e. my socio B is 89.5%
yet on my transcript its a B…
do i only give it 3.0?

@skyline well yea for one next quarter (spring) I’ll only be taking BUS020 which is accounting that satisfies marshall but I literally have no other classes to take other than Science with a Lab and the Arts and Letters GE, but all the classes that belong to those categories in my university are not offered this quarter (winter) or spring quarter so I’ll only be taking 1 course and I feel like I’ll be wasting my time even though I’ll have around 57 credits after spring, and I don’t want to sacrifice my entire summer taking 2 courses I guess or spend my junior year at USC taking GE courses, I feel that is a waste of money for its high cost of tuition and I rather concentrate on studying business than worry about GE courses.
