USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@xdzzzrawr: That’s correct. I’ve never received the Cal Grant at all in prior years. You should be able to transfer your grant online once your GPA has been verified. I’m not sure if you’re aware of the website which allows you to change and manage your Cal Grant: CSAC - Student Landing Home; After logging in, select “School Change and LOA” on the top menu. Keep in mind that everyone is in the same boat and can’t do much of anything until their GPA has been verified – which is taking a very long time since the volume of verifications that the CSAC is receiving is overwhelming.

^^

If you are getting Cal Grant at UC Riverside, then all you need to do is go to “School Change and LOA” and change it to USC. (After you’ve been accepted and Cal Grant decisions are out , most likely in June or so…)

You don’t need to verify GPA since you are renewing your Cal Grant.

I attended a UC for one quarter and then left for CC.
My status has this:
“Grade Point Average (GPA) Verification - Not required for renewal students”

My Cal Grant has been on “Reserved” status for the past year since my CC fees were mostly covered by pell grant and other grants/scholarships.

I submitted my css profile and fafsa before Feb. 2nd but they still havent showed up as received is this alright? I’m kind of freaking out.

Can some others post their current status? Mine has been stuck on this for a while, and I haven’t seen anyone else with this status. Here is what mine says–does this look familiar to anyone?

Application Status:

The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

I have that exact same status. It hasn’t changed for at least a week now.

Turned in all my stuff the week prior to the deadline. As of now, they do not have my college transcript or financial aid information.

This is mine:

We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.

@AMorrison-

That’s strange that our statuses have such slight differences. I wonder how they decide which one to put up?

Most likely depends on documents they’ve recieved, are processing, and need from the applicant.

@wghiller my status is exactly the same as yours.

I’m super confused about the whole Cal grant gpa verification thing. I’m going to my school right now to see if they can do it electronically…

@ unknownpleasures thank you for clearing that up, because I kept trying to do the school change and now I understand why it says that the service is currently unavailable, just gotta wait and hope I get accepted >.<.

My status is still:
“We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.”

And it looks like they received everything I sent them.

Mine’s the same status too since February 4, three days after I submitted my application (Feb 1):

We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

Yeah mine has been like that since i submitted in november! :frowning: the wait is killing me and we still have over 2 months to go!!!

@tbibbs Try over 3 months to go for the VAST majority of us… I hear LOTS of people don’t find out until the last week of May

3 months. Ugh.

lol yup. such a freakin long wait.

what’s the deal with this GPA verification thing? i thought we just had to ask our community college to submit our GPA to the cal grant commission and they will upload the data to our FAFSA and they forward it to all the schools we listed on the FAFSA…

has anyone else’s financial aid had an update?

My documents have been marked as received:

Received

 • FAFSA Data
 • PROFILE Data

Now I just have to send in my tax returns.

yea thats pretty much how mine is… i also have to submit a Family Member Listing Form & Selective Service Registration Status
