@PrinceLi,
Congratulations on being admitted to WBB. As far as your package, it has been reported by others that if you got a white package but no mention of a scholarship or amount, it is likely you may have gotten the Dean’s Scholarship which is 1/4 tuition off. You may wish to confirm this with Admissions. Good luck!
See post 1423 here where I addressed same question a couple days ago:
There’s been a couple posts about WBB in the Class of 2022 thread.
Where do we book the flight for the automatic travel stipend?
@DLithium, you can either book through USC Travel or I believe you can book it yourself. You can call them at (480) 296-0544 or (800) 495-5832 and mention that you will be attending an Explore USC program. They can assist with arranging airline tickets and hotel rates. You can also book Radisson hotel with a discounted rate for Explore USC directly from link on the you.usc.edu portal.
They will reimburse, amount depends on state you are flying from. I think it was up to $60 if flying from CA and a couple other states, maybe AZ or NV but most other states was up to $200 or so.
PrinceLi - Do you know how many students have heard from WBB program so far? We thought notices didn’t go out until April 1? Thanks!
@Mom314 At our Explore USC event last week there were at least a half dozen WBB admits in the Marshall break-out session. No idea if the other 2 Explore events had the same number.
Congratulations. Would you mind sharing your statistics on your SAT or ACT plus did you take many AP tests?
@Mom314, my S and I attended ExploreUSC last week as well and there was one WBB student’s parent at the breakfast on Friday morning. I suspect Stats would be less important than extracurriculars (not that stats are not going to be on the high end), and having had some exposure to international travel, and language proficiency.
Based on posts from last year, it appears that it is probable that the scholarship results for those who interviewed for Trustee and Presidential awards will likely be posted to the USC portal some time between March 21 and 23.
Last year, it was reported that the scholarship announcements were posted to the portal on the day they mailed the RD decisions, at about 4pm (PST). That was Friday, March 24th last year. In a prior year, they posted a couple days prior to the day RD results were sent. The odds seem high that results will be posted towards the end of next week, likely Thursday or Friday (March 22 or 23). Good luck to all.
USC Admission announced on Twitter and Instagram that “First-Year admission decisions will be mailed on March 22nd and available online in the you.usc.edu portal on March 25th.”
Per @Nomorelurker ^^ last year the scholarship announcements were posted on the portal on the day mailed RD decisions. If so, then I can see the light at the end of this waiting tunnel. Whether my DS gets it or not, it will be a relief just to get an answer.
@hafamama, agree that it will be great to have an answer, hopefully on March 22nd! Good luck to your son.
The admissions office said decisions will be posted on the portal on the 22nd.
hi. what about the application through Bocconi? will it be posted on the portal on 22nd as well?
@goodlucktouall, I am familiar that Bocconi is affiliated with USC in Italy, but not sure what application or Bocconi scholarship you might be referring to? You can always check with USC about when specific scholarships will be reported.
The scholarships that I am aware of, which are likely going to be posted on March 22 this coming Thursday, are the results for those who were nominated for Presidential and Trustee scholarships in January. Students who interviewed for Presidential and Trustee through Explore USC should be able to check the USC portal on Thursday, March 22, around 4pm (PST) for results.I am not aware of any other scholarships that will be posted on 3/22. Might be best to contact USC about other scholarship release dates.
In terms of applications, RD (Regular Decision) packages for USC admission will reportedly be mailed on Thursday, March 22 and then likely posted to the portal on March 25th just after midnight Pacific time (if they follow a similar protocol as in the past couple of years). Good luck!
@925275 I’m curious about your source in the Admissions Office who told you the scholarship decisions would be released on the 22nd. The USC Admissions Twitter account has posted: “First-year applicants who interviewed for USC Merit Scholarships will be notified about their awards by the end of March.” This tweet is just vague enough to not rule out the 22nd and of course, I’d love to find out sooner than later.
@hafamama Last year they posted at 4:02 pm the same day admissions decisions were mailed. Some of the data put out is based on following this closely for the last several years. When ya have four admitted to one school in six or so years, the patterns become obvious, but most people are only around once or maybe twice, so don’t see them. Not much changes each year. They can surprise us and change it up, they are in charge. A couple years back they were sending on Friday before reg decisions were mailed. But I would bet on same day as reg decisions, a couple hours after they post pictures of the all the bins heading to the mail trucks with the packages. Some posters see a post on here which could be a guess then repeat it like they have the inside scoop from admissions, which is not always the case.
They always say by April 1st for regular decision but it has always been during the the week around March 20-24th depending where Monday falls. Just like portal update, they say by noon on the 25th, but we know it has been just after midnight for the last few years. Of course, it could change, but doubt it. They are a machine.
@CADREAMIN, agree completely. That is why when I repost something that I see on another thread or other online source, I try to use qualifiers like “reportedly” or it is “possible” or “probable” if the same pattern or protocol is repeated… On the other hand, there have been instances where some “insiders” have reportedly disclosed dates or information, which may turn out to be reliable as was the case last January with the USC early scholarship package mail date, but until it’s confirmed, it has to be considered hearsay and speculation.
@CADREAMIN Thank you! I figured that USC wants to play it safe by being somewhat vague, and I’m hopeful the portal update is on the 22nd. We also applied for FA, so no matter what the scholarship results are, I know we’ll still have to wait a little longer for for the FA package.
@hafamama We called the admissions office last week and it was the person who answered the phone. She said that they would be posted on the 22nd - she didn’t specify a time. Hoping for great news!
@CADREAMIN - wondering if you know if they do the scholarship decisions need blind…
