USC 2018 Class of 2022 Trustee and Presidential Award Notices

@924275 Thank you! Good luck to you!

@hafamama and good luck to you too!!!

@925275 Yes they do, at least that is what they say.

@hafamama, in fairness to USC, I do not believe they are intentionally ā€œbeing vagueā€. They sincerely may not know if they are going to get all the packages stuffed/filled by Thursday, so it seems prudent to not over promise on dates until they know for sure that they can deliver.

Oh ya, on regular decisions they are being vague on purpose. They have known the date since last year and they know packages will be ready. That doesnā€™t mean something out of their control - a big storm or power outage - couldnā€™t affect them, so maybe they hedge somewhat because of that. But they are totally vague because they still like the old school surprise. And if they say scholarship results are out on xyz date, then they are spilling the beans on regular decision. Maybe at some point they will be like the other big boys and put out a date well ahead of time instead of just a few days before.

@hafamama admissions is now saying portals will be updated on Friday for scholarshipsā€¦

@925275 Thank you! I donā€™t have portal access and Iā€™m not sure how regularly my son checks it. Now, I can discreetly ask if there have been any updates recently, and see how it goes.
Hope you hear good news!

Oh no are they extending the angst another day?! Did they post Friday somewhere? Cause what they say on the phone isnā€™t always reliable, we have seen that a lot through the years. But if itā€™s posted that has been accurate.

Of course that begs the question as to whether the RD packages will also be delayed by a day. Never mind, just went to the USC webpage and itā€™s still showing 3/22 for mailing out RD packages.

@925275, I called and they confirmed Friday for scholarship merit notifications.

Weā€™ll see what they actually do. This happens every year, people call and are told one thing and they do anotherā€¦so I donā€™t buy it yet. Always fun to see how it plays out.

Then again, itā€™s fun because I am not stressing results, just collecting data for next year. But I paid my dues going through this four times with USC - I have the gray hairs to prove it. But itā€™s worth it, my freshman at USC is sooo happy and getting every thing out a college education that she possibly can.

I guess USC can post results when they want to but Iā€™d be surprised if they didnā€™t post them late Thursday after sending off the RD boxes like they have done the past few years. Do they send an email the day after portal update? Maybe thatā€™s what they are referencing for Friday.

@quantjock, of course it is possible that they post early, but it seems to make sense to do it Friday afternoon. That way, they would be out of the office and not have to deal with an influx of calls. Last year I believe they did it on Friday, March 24th, but you never know as it is up to them in the end.

Last year scholarships were posted at Thursday the 23rd at 4:05pm. That morning people posted they had just called that very morning and were being told Friday as well, thatā€™s why this is funny. I hope they donā€™t drag it out an extra day.

@CADREAMIN, my bad. I did not recall that it was Thursday last year. It is possible that they got a lot of calls on Friday last year and decided to move the merit scholarship announcements to Friday this year, but hey, if they can release the info a day earlier this week, that would be great!

Iā€™m not sure if it was already asked but what happens to the 40%-50% of people that do not get their scholarships? Do they get a lower scholarship, or can someone go through the process and get nothing at all?

@gliscorlion, great question. We do not know the answer for sure. Some who were nominated will not show up for their interview and of course get nothing. I believe it was posted on another thread that a student was told that every student who interviewed will get something.

I believe it was posted by a student on another thread that they got $500 for books some year, another who interviewed for a Trustee last year reported an award of $4,000, but said that her D was not particularly enthusiastic about USC. Speculation is that a fair number who do not get the Presidential or Trustee may get the Deans (1/4 tuition) but ultimately we do not know for sure. Good luck!

@Nomorelurker thank you on the insight! Literally getting no rest over this week because of the intense anticipiation, just gonna keep on praying for me and my fellow early admits!

@gliscorlion, you are most welcome. Understandably, this is a very stressful week for students. It sounds like USC is one of your top choices so I hope you accomplish your dream to at a minimum maintain the scholarship that you interviewed for, if not bump up!

Have any of you done the housing application yet?
