USC Admissions

Hi,
I am currently a junior in high school who will be a first generation college student. However, my uncle attended USC, and this is my dream school. He offered to help me out in the admissions process in any way he can, as he knows that my family isn’t the most financially stable. Would it be beneficial to have him call or email admissions on my behalf or write me a letter of rec? Or would I be better off mentioning him in an essay? Any advice helps. Thank you so much.

Family members should NOT write your LORs, whether for college or for a job. And only mention him in your essay if it pertains to the topic. Don’t name drop someone just for the heck of it.
USC asks on their application if a relative is an alumnus of USC, and if they are a parent, grandparent, or sibling. So safe to say, they don’t really care if it’s not one of those three.
