^ You are correct in that having a Feinberg admit in your back pocket will give you the opportunity to do some “risk free” exploration rather than trying to package yourself for med school, that is if medicine still remains your career goal.

You certainly can go to HPME and apply out to other med schools for financial reasons. You may want to confirm that HPME does allow that…I think it does, but I am not 100% sure.

HPME seems like a no-brainer to me, but perhaps you are drawn more to MIT and feel you need to rationalize “why MIT over HPME” to yourself.

Shuda has no idea what they’re talking about. USC>Yale. Ivy League is overrated. He/she is also very misinformed about the specifics of Bac/MD program. Good luck.

Keck is ranked 34, Yale at 6. Even at the undergrad level, Yale’s education is well above USC’s. I’m not bashing USC, it’s a great rising school but it is not at the level of Ivies/top 20s.

And I doubt that Scuba is misinformed about his/her own program.

Being in combined program is extremely beneficial. It does not matter which UG you go at all. Get your perfect GPA and high MCAT and you can apply out. But being in a program gives great peace of mind. My D. is in one at state school. She is not missing a bit being at some elite college. Classes are extremely challenging, survivors have to work their… off to make grades, opportunities for top students are awesome, scholarships, research grants, awards…etc. literally falling from the sky and pre-med board is exceptionally helpful. They are organizing pre-med co-major currently which will cover all information that one needs for preparing and applying to Med. School. Unfortunately it is too late for my D. (college senior). But she had awesome experiences, way beyond expected and she has a spot as long as she gets average MCAT score. If she gets a good one, she might apply out, still retaining her spot. She does not like urban location of Med. School in her program. Otherwise, it does not matter for her which Med. School she will go. D. has always been straing “A” student and continue the same at college where she has 2 minors in addition to her major. Forgot to mention, her state school has a campus in Europe and organized trips to many places abroad, just like many other places. New Zealand trip was another fullfilled dream.

I’m a junior in high school, and I’m very passionate about becoming a doctor. I am also very interested in USC’s Bacc/MD program and Northwestern’s HPME. Since you were accepted to both of these programs, I wanted to know if you have any advice for the application process. Also, which program/school did you end up deciding to attend?
