is it possible to get a package tomorrow if your friend got one today? diff majors
Do scholarship results come through mail? Did any international students receive their offers?
@camomof3 Thanks for the info and clarification
@tennessee1 It was in a package, not a letter.
Nothing received Monday January 25, San Francisco/Bay Area of California. I have read a lot of this thread, but am i correct that if one does not receive anything in the next few days, it’s likely that one is NOT being considered for a merit scholarship? Daughter applied before December 1 deadline for merit scholarships. At abwee67, we received a financial aid postcard about January 20. So far, no merit, so like you, I hope that does not mean anything bad. Thank you.
I received my acceptance packet and I am an international applicant (although I currently live in Oklahoma)!
Has anyone in NorCal received anything yet?
Anyone’s portal is different?
thru e-mail?
My DS received a white box packet today (New Orleans). We also received a FA postcard last week. So there is no correlation between the two.
@stingray00 I’m in the Bay Area and I didn’t get anything today. The mail already ran and it didn’t come. I’m just about losing my mind.
@stingray00 i posted a few above, but we are in the SF/Bay Area and did not receive anything today, Monday, January 25.
Is it possible to get accepted without being invited to a scholarship interview?
Does everyone get a white box no matter what, and only the contents are different? Or is thr packaging different depending on acceptance/deferral?
I’m in OC and I still haven’t gotten anything, but I don’t think the mail is due to arrive for another 30-ish minutes.
Anyone from Utah?
Also, does it come with regular mail or like packages do?
To clarify, it does not come out in batches by schools, they all went out Friday, just depends on how long it takes to get to you.
Scholarships are super competitive, to mention what I said earlier, less than one thousand will receive a package. More than TWENTY thousand won’t receive a package. It takes near perfect stats or a hook of some kind with good stats. Could be a diversity need, first gen/URM with good stats, or an achievement hook, I like using the example of the kid with good stats that applied to aeronautical engineering that already had his pilots license. That’s an interesting candidate. Schools are looking for something interesting that stands out. Millions have good stats.
@stingray00 daughter got her package at noon. live in norcal( bay area)
@CADREAMIN – did letters advising students that they were NOT selected for scholarship consideration go out on Friday, as well?
The packages that are going out now are for students who are in the running for academic merit scholarships. Some require interviews (Presidential and Trustees). Some do not (Deans). And if a student is a NMSF, and isn’t invited to interview now, but is still admitted under regular decision, they will receive the NMSF Presidential Scholarship (1/2 tuition) then.
The MAJORITY of students that will ultimately be admitted WILL NOT receive this package: the merit scholarships only go to a small percentage of students (and you also have to apply before the Priority Deadline of Dec. 1 to be considered for the scholarship).
And remember, these are for ACADEMIC MERIT scholarships. Info on need-based financial aid (scholarships and grants) will be included with regular admissions decisions when those come out in March.
For all students who applied before Dec. 1, your admission portal will be updated - probably within the week - telling you that you are not being considered for a scholarship, but that you are still being considered for admission
Okay @mountainhiker – so do the students not being considered for scholarships get letters or just learn that on the portal?
No mail today because of the snow .-.
