USC Class of 2022

where all have you guys already got in???

@lmsterp I don’t think anyone from the northeast has heard anything (or at least from what I’ve seen). Most of these results you see from the posts are from the south, Cali, or international (international was released a few days early).

From CT btw.

My child rec’d acceptance box in NJ today

@umichross so far the most “competitive” school I’ve gotten into is UC Santa Barbara. but that’s a lot less hard than USC haha

anyone in Long Island get anything?

Cmon guys don’t give up hope yet I live in Texas and still haven’t gotten anything as well. We’re almost there 1 more day to go WE GOT THIS

UPDATE!!! D got admitted to Film Production spring admit. We are ecstatic and just cried with the mail lady!!! Phoenix, AZ

In nyc and didn’t receive anything yet

@reservationsfor3 yay! what were her stats if you don’t mind me asking? I’m trying to calculate my shot at hopefully getting spring admission

CT, NY, and NJ acceptances reported. But its always patchy in those states on day 2.

I have got Michigan Ross, UCLA( Bus. Eco.) and am waiting for USC(Marshall)…Which is the best???

The White Box came. S. accepted. Don’t know if he got into program because he’s not back from spring break to open it until tonight.

Arrived 11:30 a.m. CST We are in the 2 day zone. Kansas City area for those in the Midwest waiting.

The kind mail carrier actually rang the bell and brought it to our door with a big smile on his face. Wish S. had been there for both of them.

Following so many of you and hoping for you!

Agree completely with @WWWard the admission announcement process needs to be updated for all the reasons you stated

For future applicants or the parents of future applicants…

When it comes to stats (GPA, Rank, Test Scores), whether they may be average, good or exceptional, you really need to think of them as just a couple bullet points on a rather long list of potential elements when applying to an elite private college or university in the mold of USC. If you come across as someone who is capable of performing well at USC (and tens of thousands of applicants likely do), the determining factors are instead going to be other elements of your application… and moreover – how you explain those elements or portray yourself via your entire application packet.

As I have come to understand it, successful applicants to USC often have some unique or compelling story to tell… or they have found a clear way to identify how and why USC is right for them… and/or what USC might gain from admitting someone like them. In a field of 64K+ applicants and growing, the key thing is to find some way to stand out and to be remembered during the initial 10-20 mins allocated to reviewing and evaluating you as an applicant. This is what likely differentiates most of the successful applicants.

It can also come down to a #s game related to how many applicants are applying to each individual major. Applying to SCA likely means having to navigate an admit rate of 2-9%, depending on the major being sought. Some majors in other Schools within USC, where much fewer apply in raw #s, may have admit rates approaching 20% instead.

Or it may simply come down to the #s applying from your demographic group or state of residence, etc.

Obviously, some factors… like URM status or FirstGen status or QuestBridge Scholar, etc… could serve as an extra element in differentiating you.

Basically, before submitting an application packet to a college or university like USC, Stanford, the Ivies, UVa, Northwestern, Duke, Vanderbilt, Rice, Emory or the like, you really need to take a step back and look at it again as an observer who does not know you may. What stands out at first glance if anything? What sets you apart? You may even want to ask others to do the same. If the answer is one or more stats, you really need to reevaluate before sending. If those stats are great… wonderful, but what more is there about you? Work to make them just one of many elements to you. Maybe work on it until the answer relates to an essay or your Why ___? answer or your ECs and how they affected you or why you became a leader and what you did with it, etc.

There are many public universities, even elite ones, that seem to be purely stat driven or at least lean that way. But that is not the case with USC. They of course expect a certain level of academic and scholarly accomplishment… but then they also expect much more. If you were challenged, how did you overcome it? What sets you apart… aside from being elite in academic terms?

And ultimately… they want to know that USC is more than just another application for you too. So find a way to make that clear… if true. If USC is your dream school… great. Tell them. But also tell them why and how it can affect you or aid you in the future. And what does USC get in return?

Good luck to all those applying in future years… and good luck for those this cycle still awaiting an answer…

Just fyi, stats is only 1 part of many many many parts of getting into USC. 1560+ SAT/35 ACTs and 4.6gpas being rejected makes it hard to use stats as a barometer. Gotta have the entire application and everyone else’s entire application to see the picture. And only admissions has that.

Last year they rejected 3,000 with scores in the 99th percentile. Number will likely be closer to 4,000 this year with the huge jump in applications.

@CADREAMIN can you point us to a post about switching majors at USC, and schools? I vaguely remember that coming up once. My child was admitted to Marshall but thinks a Dornslife major might now be a better fit.

mail came but nothing from usc in the bay area

I’m from the SF/Bay Area and I got my acceptance! I’m doing the RHP program though and not regular admissions. Good luck to everyone still waiting on a decision!

Is the white box supposed to mention what scholarship is offered or it’s on portal only which should be updated tonight?

@mmstanfordbound Yeah, probably.
Oh, man. Do hmu if you receive a postal mail from USC.
Good luck!

Nothing came today, think that means rejected. In a Day 2 zone. My stats are about avg from last year’s avg, but I applied to harder programs.
