USC Class of 2022

Rejected as well. Congratulations to all of those who got in! You all seem like amazing individuals and I’m sure that we will all do well at our respective universities!

accepted: UCLA
waitlisted: northwestern

Got rejected today
4.0GPA, 35 ACT, track and field team, Model United Nations

Its really frustrating that I’m being rejected by just about every school I applied to
Even those like UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, and Northeastern,
USC is a great school and I have no problems about being rejected but I can’t help but feel angry I’m being rejected from so many safe schools

I just checked my msg but it tells me that I am admitted to USC for the spring semester of 2019. Does this mean that I will be studying at a different region for a semester or I will just start my college in spring?

Congrats to all who got their admission to USC via package or portal. I know some are still waiting on the portal to update, which is unfortunate. Hopefully the wait will not be much longer. Some may still need to wait until March 27th on financial aid while others may still have some decisions coming out this week to wait on before making a final decision about USC. If you were waitlisted, gained Spring admission or a transfer option, no doubt you will have food for thought to go over with your respective families in the coming days and weeks ahead.

To those who did not gain admission, hopefully after the initial sting, you will be able to look at some of your other options, safeties, or may still have more decisions coming this week. It is not a good feeling to work so hard and take the L, but it in no way defines you. My S has been waitlisted (essentially an L) at one of his top choices and deferred at another. It’s not pleasant, but part of this process is finding a way to accept that there will be at least one and more likely more than one “rejection” letter in this incredibly competitive college application situation. All who had the confidence to apply to USC have great accomplishments and will do great wherever you land.

@boxerluvr, I agree to not let the decision get your down. I don’t agree with driving seven hours to show up at Admissions to reassert your enthusiasm for USC (lol), but you may have a good appeal to make, and let them know you would be full pay. Let them know you would be willing to start in the spring if you would be willing, that USC is your #1 choice, and maybe even entertain requesting a transfer option. At the same time, I would try to make peace with your other options, even if you may wish to attend for one year and try to reapply to USC. Most likely you may find that your next choice will be a great fit too, but if USC is still your passion, why not try everything to still find a way in.

@chrys1, there is a whole thread devoted to the question “USC location” where @CADREAMIN and I (and a few others) spar a little (friendly of course!) about this issue. Bottom line is that it is for the most part safe, but there are some things to be aware of about the surrounding area. This is true of many great universities, including many ivies like Penn and Columbia, top schools like JHU… and others. Best to not go into it blind, but overall USC campus security does a great job of making it safe for students.

Denied, not surprised though tbh. 31 act, 3.86 uw gpa, Leadership positions related to my major with a nonprofit & an honor society & very involved overall. Congrats to everyone admitted.

Denied. 34 ACT 4.0 UW. Not surprised tho.

S rejected, was trying for IMGD. Bummed but going to send his enrollment confirmation to LMU today and celebrating his decision with a fun dinner out tonight. Been a fun ride, everyone and best of luck to all of you, wherever you enroll!

Rejected, but that’s no surprise. Huge congratulations to everyone who got in!

D18 denied for CogSci. ACT 35, 4.0 UW, 8 APs, EC, etc. Really not happy about it because USC has been her top choice for a long time.

Thanks to @CADREAMIN and @WWWard for trying to keep everyone sane during this process.

Accepted! Dornsife CS+Physics dual major

Rejected and completely heartbroken. I’ve been dreaming of coming here since I was 13.

rejected… but I applied for film production and it didn’t say anything about that. Does that mean I for sure didn’t get into the program?

@CADREAMIN thank you so much! yess!

just as I thought: rejected

Huge punch in the gut. DS1 rejected - 1550 SAT, 35 ACT NMF. Just goes to show you, not easy to get in anywhere. Very bummed, this was DS1’s first choice. There was a stat that 85 sets of twins got in. I thought maybe…then nope.

Denied D from NY. 33/1480/4.0. Not really a school we seriously considered unless they gave her significant money. She has amazing options, so she fine. Her friends from same HS with better numbers also denied. Just a tough year.

Congrats to all those who were accepted.

I see some really negative stuff here from kids who were not admitted. Please do not beat yourselves up because some schools decided to pass on your application. This is not a decision on you as a person or in any way meant to diminish your hard work and achievements. There is no “one” school for anyone. You will find a place that appreciates you and where you will be happy. It will happen! Stay strong and keep your chin up.

When can international students from India expect their mail to arrive when accepted???

@pdxtigermom I received informed delivery the morning it was delivered. Were you able to get into the portal?
