USC Class of 2022

^^^ should be updated by 12:30 - 1:30 AM Pacific… tomorrow. But they also email you to tell you to check… so you do not really need to log-on and refresh constantly…

@wchatar2 Congrats he is in the running for a trustees! He will interview at USC. When portal updates you will be shown what to do and sign up for interview date! Some trustees are bumped to Stamps or Mark with additional benefits!

I should add he can also be bumped down, so prepare for the interview! There are a couple places online with tips.

@wchatar2 Congratulations on being selected as a full-tuition finalist! You still need to attend one of the Explore weekends and interview, but getting invited to interview is the biggest hurdle! Good luck!

Thanks for walking an old confused man through this. I mean he has jumped through all of the hoops to be NMF so the worst case scenario is 1/2 tuition. I’m so happy for my son, he’s a really wonderful kid and loved USC.

Hey all, for portal update, it is best just to go to bed and check it in the morning. Who knows, maybe they will do it later this year, although it has started between midnight to 1:00am pst for last three years. And it takes awhile for it all to load, a few hours sometimes. You have invested so much time in this, try to get a good nights sleep. It is what it is.

The Federer/Chung (oldest versus youngest) match starts then so if you just can’t sleep…I’ll be rocking that.

Confused but happy, you should be really proud, that’s a big deal. Congrats to family!

^^^ and unfortunately… 30K+ get to have their own little John McEnroe meltdowns over the news. But stay positive people. No one is rejected in January, and 89% of all admits get in during March. So keep the faith

Hi!! I’ve been stalking this thread since it started. First off I want to thank @CADREAMIN AND @WWWard for being so helpful along the way.
I’m in NY, part of SDA, and am being considered for the Trustee scholarship.

@bogeyorpar Seattle is a 3-day delivery area from LA according to the USPS priority mail map. So tomorrow would be the earliest anyone in the PNW is likely to get a box, and many will not arrive until next week. Much of the midwest and east coast is in a two-day area, so I don’t know if they send all our mail to a sorting facility in the midwest and back to the west coast, but, counterintuitively, Seattle always receives from USC much later than most of the country.

Also, I would highly recommend waiting half a day to see if the box shows up in the mail, before checking the portal. The box really is special, and it is quite a moment to have a kid who is not expecting it get to go through the real, tangible, physically lovely package. (OK so I’m old-fashioned…)

Congrats, @laddoo321 My older daughter is an SDA senior now.

thank you so much!! is she part of the BFA or BA?

Yes, if the kids aren’t in angst and happily blind to all this - I agree with @SEArent, the mailbox moment can be a spectacular event and memory to have. Or however you can set up the moment…maybe parent can peek if student blissfully unaware??

So while I know the process is brutal, particularly on those that don’t get it (whether now or in March), I have mixed feelings cause getting the package can be very special.

@pdxtigermom that is not correct. The majority DO NOT get what they interview for. They have many more kids in for full then what they give. My daughter is an example of that.

@KHSforRJS never heard of that for Brown. I have always heard and read it is Vanderbilt !!

@wchatar2 Look on the glossy brochures that you got. I remember from last year it had written across the bottom or the top Trustee. It was just on the brochure only about their different scholarships.

I am very happy for those getting boxes. I feel bad for my twins. Great stats (the same or better than many who received boxes), grades, NMSF (only two in their school), EC-all band related. But no real hook. Upper middle class with 2 parents and a decent school district in the central valley of CA. I knew it was still a long shot, but got my hopes up. USC is the definite first choice for one. Based on the NPC, there is no way we can afford to send him there unless there is a merit scholarship. Sorry for the rant. I just want the best for my boys.

@laddoo321 You’re welcome. She ultimately chose the B.A. (Acting) route over B.F.A., as B.F.A. was perceived to be too restrictive in terms of the overall time commitment, and it would have limited her other goals/options. She is also part of programs in the School of Cinematic Arts and the School of Communication (so a B.A. + two Minors)… and she is fairly active in SCA student films, preferring film/tv to theatre productions. But that is one of the great things about USC… it really does allow students the flexibility to be the architect of your own education. Most seem to have at least one Minor. Many double major or have two minors, etc.

Anyone in NYC receive a letter yet?

@usma87 Totally get that it is a disappointing time for many. Will they be NMF then? March is a long way off, but NMF is still 1/2, wish the best for you and your boys!

@Marcie123 Congratulations! What major?
