USC Class of 2022

still no update here in socal… anyone have an idea on how long portal updates took to finish in previous years?

@njgirl1015 I have two daughters there now. Both were admitted in March and thus neither were part of the “honors college” experience. Only about ten percent of the class can be. 11% of all those admitted are admitted in January.
89% of all those admitted are admitted in March. Other than arriving a little earlier and living in a residence hall dedicated to honor students, I doubt that the overall college experience is much different. For the most part, at least as I understand it, it does not give you any special rights or options not open to everyone else. All freshmen dorms become tight knit communities, if you choose to participate and make them so. And the choice related to Greek life is the same for everyone. Since the USC Honors Residential College is in the new USC Village, it is clearly newer and thus likely nicer than the older residence halls on the main campus (where most freshmen live)… but only marginally so. My freshman daughter this year actually chose to live with her big sister in an apartment near campus. She wanted more space and amenities than what the freshmen dorms and suites offer. But USC offers a ton of options… from traditional dorms to suites to apartments. Good luck in March.

No update yet, WIsconsin

SoCal resident who submitted mid November with no update! I haven’t seen any Dean’s Scholarships go out so I was hoping that they would announce those on the portal but they probably would’ve done that by now

Darn I didn’t get it. Well, it was expected. Congrats to everyone to got in!

@superhitman Yes… the same rather silly outdated process of white boxes being mailed and then a delayed portal update will be occurring in March. It is like now… just on a bigger scale .

No update yet here in Northern VA

Thanks for posting the letter, @Laketahoe79 Wow… the #s have shifted dramatically. Last year, it was 1200 out of 32K. Now, its 1200 out of 39K. It also seems like they are projecting a better yield rate. Last year, 9042 had received admission offers by the end of March (including the 1200 in January). But because 3358 enrolled vs the 3000 projection, they seem to be lowering their projected admits down to maybe only around 8200 in total. I guess that time will tell what the final # is… & I still suspect that they will admit at least 8500 in total… but it is certainly getting even more competitive this year it seems.

AZ and email came at 5:30am and it’s posted on portal…unfortunately daughter didn’t get it but hopeful for March!

I did not receive a scholarship :frowning: RIP :(((( I was deferred to regular decision.

@lydsminnesota and others…are some actually selected for Presidential outright? S’s said he has to compete for it.

Also does anyone know if you are expected to visit at your own expense?

How did you find out? where are yall from? im from Richmond VA and I got a financial aid email but thats it??

From Texas, just got my scholarship notification letter and my portal updated. I didn’t get any scholarships sadly, good luck to everyone who got an interview!

Sorry everyone. I do not recall it taking them so long to update all of the portals in previous cycles. Of course, they have also never had to update so many in January before. 39K is clearly a record # applying by Dec 1st… and unfortunately for the same # of merit offerings (1200).

To those receiving the good news… congrats! You should be very proud of your accomplishment. To the remaining 37K+, good luck in March. Both of my daughters were admitted in March, not January. And that is the case for 89% of everyone at USC right now. So keep the faith… especially if USC is your dream school. I understand that not receiving merit money eliminates USC as an option for many… but there are a # of great options still out there for you. Ultimately, your college experience is what you end up making it… regardless of where that may end up being.

Me as well

If I haven’t heard anything via mail, email, or portal, is it safe to say I took the L

Son just received and email at 10:41am EST. I’m restraining myself and not opeing it or looking at his portal.

@billbobby54 I don’t really know at this point lol. I haven’t heard anything either.

No email and my portal has not updated yet. My twin brother applied and already got an email today saying that he did not get the scholarship. What does this mean?

Realistically… I doubt that anyone not receiving an update by this point will eventually get news that a merit offering is in the works. They do process the 1200 before the other 37K+. Sorry… but they do eventually update them all.
