The banner explains how and when you can do so. Even if you are not 100% certain about committing to USC, it is worth the $55 or so housing deposit to secure your spot in line. Its the best way to get preferential housing assignments. And you can even do so without paying the overall commitment deposit to enroll at USC.
The actual best way to get exactly what you want… or at least one of your top two choices… is to locate a roommate (CC or facebook, etc. is a good starting place) and then select each other and match your preferences (1-5, etc.) exactly the same. By doing so, you make the housing office’s job super-easy, as they can match you two and accommodate the goals of two freshmen simultaneously. They also go with whichever of you had the higher preferential order in terms of signing up.
@niconiconii I’m so sorry! I wish your family has been more supportive, they are probably just worry about you. My mom gets angry when she’s worried about me and didn’t know how to react. I got rejected by USC too. We need to stay hopeful, wheverer we end up with will be the place we are meant to be. Chin up!
@niconiconii Do you have other good options? Would you ever considering transferring to USC? Some people try as sophomores and even again as juniors if they don’t get in the first time. For that it is less about essay and more about gpa and classes taken for your major. Ya, you have to go through the app process again, but it easier (in terms of doing the app cause) you are older and wiser. What are you thinking, what was your “B” plan after USC results?
speaking of transferring. i’m trying to transfer to thornton and they’ve presumably already selected the new pop music ppl, but my transfer applicant portal has not changed a bit. anyone know if i will have to wait?
Can’t take credit for this, for a little trivia, it was written by the first one to post they received the package in this admission’s cycle. Showed up in Orange County just yesterday morning (seems like a week ago). After they posted about the package, they followed it up with this post. Many that jumped in later would have missed this gem. I don’t think they will mind me reposting, particularly now that all results are out.
You are correct in asserting there is more to a persons ability to succeed than testing scores, but the approach universities use is flawed. There is a reason (in the professional world) I interview candidates first on the phone, and then in person before making a recommendation to hire. There is no way I would have hired many of my brilliant coworkers if I made my decision only from a written essay. Too many stores of kids admitted because they had a “brilliant” essay reviewer, or because the reader was in a good mood that day.
Anyway, like I previously stated, my S will excel whereever he ends up…I am not seeking sympothy, rather wanting a flawed system improved so that it benefits all of us.
@secondcup Thanks for your message. My son is committed to USC so he will take the TTP. Now just figuring out which campus. He has worked hard, and deserves this experience. But, I know so many phenomenal kids are out there. I went to CSU Fullerton, and I am very happy and successful…so, I know the school doesn’t guarantee success, but rather the motivation of the individual.
@LisaLisa24 my D is a freshman but two kids that she graduated high school with took the TTP. They are both in Paris this year and are both loving it! One is a real homebody so we were all worried how she’d adapt. But no problems at all. She’s having a great time and living with other TTP students. Good luck to your son!
@emarie19 Public shout out of congrats and welcome to the Trojan Family!
I was trying to say congrat so most, but then this thread started flying and no way to keep up. So if I missed you, especially the cc regulars, apologies and sincere congrats, and yes, welcome to the Trojan Family!
The hard part is over (except for paying for it) and the fun begins! For those 100% in, it’s all smiles from here - get your sweatshirt and wear it proudly! For others still deciding between options or waiting for $ and scholarship info - best of luck, hope the last piece of the puzzle comes together for you. And if you have any questions, there’s plenty of experienced folks on here that will jump in and help.
Once you suffer through USC admissions, it is hard not to feel compelled to help others get through it the next year -there are always great folks jumping in here to share their experience and knowledge.
@lisalisae I was accepted for USC, but am heavily considering FSU as I also got into their Honors program. FSU is an absolutely incredible school and he will have an amazing time there with such great opportunities. Would love to meet him if we both end up going!
UNC is also a beautiful and great school! He NO DOUBT will be rewarded for his effort at fantastic universities like those.
sorry to post again but someone please enlighten me: i’m trying to transfer to thornton and they’ve presumably already selected the new pop music class, but my transfer applicant portal has not changed a bit. anyone know if i will have to wait til june 1st?
@teety77 Congrats to your S! My S is a Jr. and USC Marshall at the top of his list. Do you mind sharing your S stats? and expanding more on how the business pathways work? thanks
Does anyone know anything about Annenburg School for Communication and Journalism? Acceptance rate? Reputation and ability to obtain high quality job/career after graduation?
Also, slightly different question - does USC have any Sports Management majors/minors?
