Nothing in our mail in SoCal either.
I signed up to thank @WWWard and @CADREAMIN too! It is a particularly excruciating time for my son as his college counselor strongly encouraged him to apply ED or ED2 to other schools. He has dreamed of going to USC since he was a toddler so he chose not to do that⊠I really canât even imagine how devastated he will be not to get admitted, especially given that he passed up the chance to ED at other schools. Man, this is tough stuff⊠But thank you!
@DStepler @glasshalffull123 it depends on where you live in SoCal. I heard that people in San Diego and non-LA/Orange County areas sometimes get it the second day.
my daughter got it the first day a few years ago - ventura county
In Ventura county, USPS just came by. Nothing from USC; not saying I should have gotten a scholarship, but just a fact.
Thatâs super close to LA. Congrats to your daughter btw!
So no confirmation on packages yet?
@CADREAMIN Are scholarship offers and regular letters supposed to arrive at the same time? Or would the letter stating that your application is still being considered arrive later?
@DorothyDay I feel your angst! I donât know how this becomes so much pressure on us as parents but it does. All I can suggest is of course see how things go in the next couple days (fingers crossed) then between now and March keep conversation open and about other schools, just incase. Or visit another if you can. Sometimes more familiarity of a school sells it. It is crushing when so much is put on one school (and they all do that in their heart, itâs hard not to!) But that can leave a great option feeling like a disappointing âBâ plan. Oh the heartbreak on here is the worst. I wish your son the best of luck and a white box in his future!
Only 3% chance, and yet, so many are anxiously waiting for this!
I just checked todayâs mail, and still NOTHING! Iâm in Southern Cal. Hopefully TOMORROW?!
BTW I also just signed up to thank @WWWard and @CADREAMIN! Thank you for being so thorough in all of your explanations and so patient with us new parents! I am reading the boards on all of the other schools my D applied to, and this board is the BEST and most detailed with answers because of @WWWard and @CADREAMIN!
@marcie123 did your daughter know anything? It seems so funny that no one has seen 1200 boxes go out the door!!!
I live in Castaic (about an hour away from USC). I didnât get anything either. Not that I was expecting to, or should have.
My D does not know anything. But sheâs just in training so they probably keep it from them.
Mail in Sun Valley CA has not arrived
It would be totally out of character for them to not start arriving tomorrow. If Friday is day 1 of delivery, then bulk arrive around the country Saturday which is great because more students are home/around to get them. The day 3 locations would have Sunday to deal with (not all have Sunday service) but portal would have updated Saturday night after midnight (Sunday am) so everyone is put out of their misery by then and knows whatâs up.
But they are in charge of this torturous notification. This process can be fab, but certainly has its downside. But it is cool that some lucky applicants do find out in JanuaryâŠ
You can sign up for USPS informed delivery. You get email notification of mails that will arrive today. No need to wait for the postman:
I thought Iâd let you guys know, last night uscadmissions replied to a comment on Instagram. The comment was a question asking when scholarship notifications would be and they replied with âsoon, we promise!! Youâll get an email when updates are live.â They also replied to a comment today that asked if scholarships are mailed and they replied âYes, we mail them out but also make them available online. Weâll email you when we release the decisions.â
@f2000sa
We already have informed delivery, but for packages (not letters or regular mail) the sender has to enable it.
And apparently, USC does not enable it.
