USC class of 2023 Applicants Thread

Where is the info coming from that the portals will update tomorrow at noon?

It also seems very weird that nobody from the east coast has received anything yet.

In last 4 years it has been this day (second full day of arrivals) after midnight, but word is that is changing this year. The sources are reliable posters so no reason real reason to question it. I will say this year is just odd frankly so not surprised if its different.

Yes, no idea why such a slow rollout this year. It has never been like this before. Trying to figure out if less people got them or less people posting about getting them. Any other sites reporting east coast deliveries? I think I just saw a couple midwest posts on here (besides the west coast stuff), but that’s about it.

For all the WBB admits, please check this link. We can start sharing in this instead of creating a new one. Best wishes to all!

did anyone from the more competitive bay area schools such as the ones in palo alto or cupertino receive a scholarship? i dont know a single person from my school or any friends from other schools who got a scholarship

@CADREAMIN Regardless of whether it’s midnight or noon, does everyone get an email notifying that there’s a portal update or does everyone just need to keep checking?

Anyone waiting from Midwest (Chicago) area? I didn’t get any package today…

Yes we are in the Midwest too. Waiting anxiously!

Nothing from here in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I think there are alot LESS posters this year because they did not send out the Dean’s Scholarhips (1/4 tuition) this round (January) like in the previous years. This would definitely explain the difference in not hearing of many boxes received.

What about the FONT! Ours went from tiny to HUGE, now it’s medium size. I mean this font thing is so much more entertaining than waiting for the package that is probably not coming to our house!

@bizzyinthehizzy We live in the South Bay (LA County). Usually there are about 100 acceptances from both high schools in town. So far no word about anyone getting in from my son’s HS in January. They Snap instantly and at this point he would know. Most admits in the past have 4. 5 and above, ACTs over 33, 8 plus AP classes etc. and tons of ECs. Our geography makes it tough for an SC acceptance let alone a scholarship. Good luck.

@socalmomof2boys SAME HERE, no news from anyone! Super strange!

In the past… yes - they do email letting you know that there is a portal update to check. But realistically, such an email can come long after the info is actually updated already online. Hopefully this year they will be better with such. And in years past, it can take quite awhile and a great deal of refreshing to get in… as the system locks up and overloads due to tens of thousands of simultaneous log-ins. So… do your best to be patient. And good luck to those still waiting.

But again… to reiterate about this week… no one is actually rejected. And 86% of all past and current USC students learned their fate in March… not January. Traditionally, only 3% of those applying by Dec 1st get in during this phase in January. And it is not a reflection on the other 97%. There are simply way too few scholarship spots available… and they are also divided up by Schools & other considerations too.

Got my white box today! Located right outside of Houston Texas, just to provide some insight ?

@texas3535
Congrats!
You are the second one today from Houston, that’s reported getting the white box.

@WWWard If you had to guess what Stats would a student need to get the Presidential/Trustee Scholarship? Is it just based on Grades (Weighted GPA) and SAT/ACT Scores?

@throwaway123455 We’re near you and haven’t heard of any either.
