USC class of 2023 Applicants Thread

Anybody heard about scholarship notification timing? I assumed it would be today or tomorrow, as they typically release before regular notification, but now I’m not so sure.

Well, did USC say they were mailed today or went out today? If mailed last evening they could be out for delivery today locally. All depends on the phrasing.

We heard from insider scholarship notifications on 22nd.

They were mailed this morning. Is there a chance they came into a post office before mailman left on his route for today so a couple got out, sure, but that would be an exception. Could just be a few posers, or just a couple random that got out there. You know how internet rumors spread. They will hit broadly across socal tomorrow - and start in the morning. I wouldn’t take any of these claims as basis to worry or stress about your decision.

Guys, don’t get so wrapped up in “oh someone got a package today” or “oh this person posted a picture of a package online.” The first official wave will come out tomorrow, so just because something may have slipped doesn’t mean that you didn’t get accepted. Fingers crossed for tomorrow, and fight on!!

@fntzmk Per the USC admission website “admission.usc.edu” (in the big red box they posted) it states “Admission decisions will be MAILED on March 21…”

2019 USC Acceptance/Scholarship Notification Planning Meeting

Objective of USC Notification: Make people crazy

  1. Make day three of delivery a Sunday since there is no delivery on Sunday

  2. Send shortly after college scandal (negative) but enjoy being grouped with Stanford and Yale (positive)

  3. For first time in years, don’t put picture of trucks leaving USC online to confuse delivery time and mess with applicants

  4. Follow posts on CC to prove messing with applicants worked

  5. Send packages without tracking enabled on Informed Delivery notification

  6. Follow posts on CC to see how many still check their Informed Delivery anyway

  7. Use USPS because of unreliable delivery schedule

  8. Be ambiguous about scholarship notification time, because who cares about a few hundred thousand bucks anyway?

@CADREAMIN - awesome!! ???

@CADREAMIN that was the best post I’ve read in a long time! I’ve been an avid troller for two years. This year I’m waiting, like so many others, regarding transfer acceptances. Many many thanks to you, @WWWard and @zettasyntax for making CC such an informative (and at times entertaining) place for parents and future students to voice their questions and concerns. Fight on!

Thanks @SoCalPops and @TeriYaki1 !

It’s just so darn stressful, so ya gotta add some levity, otherwise it’s just too much!

Get some sleep tonight everyone - hope all your dreams come true soon, whether it’s USC or any school that you will make great!

@JohnGaltIII Indeed. Even humble beginnings can lead to triumph eventually.

As a Recap for the applicants waiting: (and because I just scanned through today’s posts and saw it asked a lot…)

USC has announced that nearly 67K applied this cycle and that the admit rate will be circa 11%. That equates to around 7,370 being admitted overall. Since 1,000 or so were admitted in January during the scholarship phase, another 6,370 or so will be admitted this week. That # includes both fall and spring admits.

The mail-out of admissions packages, sent via USPS Priority Mail, occurred this morning… TODAY, March 21st. The admission portals will update for all applicants on March 23rd at 5pm Pacific.

You can project your likely delivery window via the following link… https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/map/ Simply use 90007 as the originating zip code. Be forewarned however that USPS is far from 100% reliable, and they do too often miss those delivery windows. The portal updates on the 23rd will be the definitive answer.

Rejection letters arrive via regular mail later… usually received after the portals update - unless you live close enough to USC.

While you can of course try Informed Delivery via USPS, as it has worked for some, USC does not enable tracking and historically very few of those actually getting the admission packets were able to gain that same-day advanced notice. The vast majority who have had Informed Delivery, including my own family, were not able to see this particular type of package en route. But there is always a chance.

Best of luck to all those waiting for good news…

@CADREAMIN post #1846 is a classic :slight_smile:

@TeriYaki1 you’re welcome

If I forgot to fill out the financial aid forms does that mean I won’t be getting a letter or package at all?

when do you think international students will get their results? since they are apparently sent out earlier, would we get them today or tomorrow?

@collegeplez If you apply for Financial Aid, they will let you know what is missing. If you did not apply for Financial Aid, then the financial aid office will not ask you for anything nor send you a package. Only admitted students who have applied for financial aid and submitted all necessary documents to the FA office will eventually receive a financial aid offering. If you applied to USC in general, you will either get admitted or rejected. Admissions is run on a completely separate track from FA.

@screennameMJ888 They are sent DHL and likely were sent earlier. But it really just depends on where you live. The majority of international applicants will likely learn via the portal update first.

I’m super anxious for USC I can’t sleep ahh

sammeeee dudeee @Safalm2019

Good luck to everyone waiting for boxes to arrive and portals to update. I hope you all get good news. Many of you won’t however and while disappointing, know that there are many, many schools where you can thrive and be happy!

I know this might be far fetched but on my USPS delivery digest it says there is a package coming from City of Industry California distribution center and the company is rapid enterprises inc /stamps. This business includes providing air delivery of individually addressed letters, parcels, and packages. Could this be a good sign or does anyone else have this? Probably totally unrelated but at this point just looking for anything I can find

@carshoes227 Where do you see that? Is it something like UPS informed delivery?
