USC Class of 2027 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

Didn’t realize the class was that small - I guess DD will be disappointed since she is in the Rd pool. Maybe you were referring to EA distribution hopefully.

Has USC released any numbers about test optional applications submitted v. percentage admitted?

Also, it is interesting they got more overall and RD, but no real increase in early. The opposite of the pattern at some east coast schools (early apps up, but smaller change in overall numbers).

Oh geez, so notifying 2400 students then making them wait a month to see if they are up for merit, then making them wait till end of March for those results…brutal.

They need to announce EA and merit all at once. End of Jan was timeframe for merit in the past (exactly at this time to be precise) for decades, so why wouldn’t they stay on that schedule? So I hope that’s a delay bluff post on their part.

True, didn’t realize that. It’s so much worse actually, super hard this year to get in, probably lower than many other T20 schools. I wonder what the acceptance rate for Marshall will be; that and engineering are going to be mid-single digits.

Marshall, Viterbi and Annenberg will be single digits no doubt.

I have noticed a lot of schools this year waiting to announce merit (or at least amount of merit) well after sending out decisions.

I think they are all just overwhelmed.

It’s crazy really. Just a couple years ago, USC had a nearly a 20-25% acceptance rate, and now it’s in the single digits.

Out of those 3 schools, which do you think will be the hardest to get into?

For the enrolled class of 2026, Viterbi was 14% and Marshall was 17% but Annenberg was only 5%.

Annenberg will definitely be the hardest since it is and was the smallest acceptance before EA.

But with these overall numbers, applicants who apply for Engineering and Business tend to apply to a lot of schools and cast a wide net. So those 2 are bound to have excessive amount of applicants.

Wait does that mean… environmental studies is a competitive major?
Shoot

If I appled cognitive science as 2nd major would they care for that or just pass me on?

Oh really, did not know this at all. I thought they would all be closer together, all near 10-12%. Very surprising to find out. That Marshall number is very interesting as well, doesn’t seem that bad. Where did you get these numbers, couldn’t find individual schools acceptance rates anywhere?

Where did the Viterbi and Marshall figures come from, are they posted somewhere? They seem higher than they have been in years…Viterbi had been holding in the 9-11% range for years. The Dean only gave that figure out in certain talks and I haven’t heard of Viterbi being anywhere near 14% for a decade+.

Any projections for Dornsife?

Very competitive; all my classmates applied for it

I feel like my why USC essay is… idk it starts off bad but then the content is really good and it talks about my interest in the interdisciplinary nature between the environment and brain,so hopefully they like that (???). After Penn ED CAS rejection I lost all confidence lol

Also feel like my short answers might have come across as cringe + forced so RIP chances ig

Oh, that’s just how many are enrolled in that school, not the acceptance rate. SCA for example shows 17%, their acceptance rate is between 2-4%.

Dornsife is the “catch all” college so it will always be higher then the rest for admittance but with these application numbers it will also be ever decreasing in acceptances.

Yeah, that’s what I thought, confusing
