SC holds a “Scholars day” event on a Saturday in either late March or early April where they invite everyone that has been offered some type of merit award in for a full day of scheduled events that includes mock classes, visits with representatives from all the departments/colleges, a “mini fair” that illustrates many of the campus organizations, campus tours etc.

We flew in on Friday and actually stayed until Monday evening because we had prearranged with the Visitor’s center to have her attend several real classes on Monday. This also enabled us to see the campus with normal daily activity. Our previous visit had been in the summer and things were pretty quiet and we anticipated (correctly) that the campus would also be pretty quiet on that Saturday. This really helped her to make her decision. They are very accommodating to this type of requests.

Still have not heard from Honors. Is there still a chance that not all of the letters have gone out yet? As each day passes, it feels like the odds are getting slimmer…

^My understanding is it’s done on a rolling basis. My son just got accepted 2 weeks ago whereas some of his classmates have known for months.

One of the Deans told me they do auto-admits on particularly strong candidates and then roll with the rest. I don’t know if there’s an absolute deadline on notifications or not. Good luck - I think at this point, no news is good news.

Has anyone else received honors notification? Today is the deadline, but there is no mail today. It can’t be good to have not yet heard anything, right?

We have not yet heard from USC Honor College and according to the university website notification was supposed to be on Feb 15th. In addition none of teh other students at my son’s school has heard either. Anyone have any idea when notification will take place???

I received my Honors College acceptance letter today it was dated February 15 so any mail traveling farther than MD from South Carolina might take longer to arrive. good luck everyone!

AL34 it is my understanding that they do send rejection letters, and I believe they are also mailed on the 15th

yes, that’s the difference – it’s not that the last day to receive a decision is the 15th, that is the last day it is mailed out. haha so everyone can relax — you’ll be informed soon :)

I think a letter coming from Columbia would have reached Knoxville by now considering it’s a 3-4 hour drive and it’s been 3 days since they “sent the letters out.” Someone dropped the ball.

I received my letter today (it was dated February 18th, just as I suspected).

I was waitlisted, which seems an odd thing to do for an honors college, but does anyone know what that means in terms of my likelihood of being accepted? They said they wouldn’t tell me until mid-May.
