USC-Columbia Honor's College

When will acceptance notices go out for the USC-Columbia Honor's College. I thought it was 12-15-2009. Anyone know the actual date. Thanks

all letters will be mailed by Feb 15th at the latest. does anyone know, if you are rejected, whether or not you receive a letter informing you of your rejection?

Yes, they do send a letter of rejection. Honors at SC is highly competitive but being rejected is not the end of the world. My D was not selected for Honors but received a McKissick Scholarship which resulted in a significant tuition reduction and was named a Capstone Scholar.

As a result of the number of AP credits she brought with her she finished classes in December and is currently doing the second of her required internships. She will graduate Magna Cum Laude in May and is headed to Law School.

Don’t let rejection from Honors be a deal breaker for you.

Is your daughter going to law school at USC? My son is thinking about law school as well (he’s a junior). We are from North Carolina and his “in state” scholarship is for four years. Do you know if there are any scholarships offered for graduate school ?

She’s hoping to be back home in Texas but has applied to USC as well.

Some schools offer scholarships for merit though they are highly competitive. FA for Law and Med students does not depend on parental income and they all are able to stand on their own for scholarships, loans and grants. Your family income will not impact his ability to secure loans and grants if he doesn’t get any scholarships.

Also, if you’re dying to be in the HC and you get rejected for freshman year and come here anyways, you can always apply for admission for sophomore year.

If you are invited to capstone but not honors, and you accept the invitation to capstone as a freshman, can you still apply to be in honors sophomore year?

i know i read it somewhere but cant seem to find it now…does anyone have statistics on last year’s incoming honor’s class? like the avg gpa/sat scores, how many admitted? this will all be a big help! thanks!

plexig – here is the link i think you are looking for!

Those stats make me so nervous! I’m right up there with the SAT scores but a lazy freshman and sophomore year have left me with a sub-par gpa :/

you don’t have to be lazy to miss a 4.5 average weighted GPA… that’s crazy-high!

of course on the other thread there’s a 3.0 UW
750 math, 760 reading, 710 writing that got in - so who knows, test scores may trump GPA???

yeah, i think usc really takes all that into consideration… gpa, test scores, etc etc. some people aren’t as good at taking standardized tests and it’s harder to attain a certain gpa at some schools over others. anyways - good luck to all! feb 15’s the last day, so we don’t have that much longer to wait… :)

DS just got honors acceptance :)

Has anyone else heard about honors? Is it a one page letter or a packet?

^One page letter. Son got his 3 days ago.

is anyone else on here being hit with the snowpocalypse? it’s certainly unfortunate that no mail will be delivered until it melts!

Got my Honors acceptance letter on Friday

Congrats -

all we need is to find about scholarships and it will be decision/visit time :)

Has anyone in North Carolina gotten honors college acceptance yet? Has anyone received a rejection letter?

My son received his honors acceptance in Dec. shortly after he received his acceptance letter.
