Hi all,

I'm an international student and am from Singapore. I just received a letter from USC saying that I will not be further considered for a president's scholarship. I did not apply for any scholarships at the time of my application, so what exactly does this mean?

Does this mean anything about my chances for admission in late March?

Thanks

Isaac.

Im guessing its a glitch in the system.

I got the same letter last year. People who don't get the scholarship get the letter, but it does not mean you are instantly accepted or rejected. Last year, I was actually accepted around mid-March.

You don't have to apply directly for scholarships, the letter means that you will not be receiving some of the big full and half tuition scholarships, which everyone is considered for if they apply before a certain date. December 1 for US, not sure about the date for internationals. Also, it does not mean that you are rejected, it just means that you were not part of the first wave of acceptances with a big scholarship.

Nope. I got the same letter today (also from Singapore, lol). It means what it means - you're (we're) not getting any merit aid, but it doesn't affect our admissions chances.
