I was accepted to Marshall for Business Administration. Is it possible for me to (1) get out of some GE courses with what will be a total of 9 AP tests (score of 4 or 5) at the end of this year, and (2) then be able to have enough time to double major in Business Administration and Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical)? Would I even be allowed to major in engineering, given that I didn't apply to Viterbi?

I am trying to pick between Boston College's Carroll School of Management and USC; answers to the questions above will be very helpful!

A double degree, as it would be called, in Engineering and Business would take about 6 years according to USC officials. You can always minor in like “Engineering Technology Commercialization” if that’s your thing. You would have to apply to Viterbi once you get to USC if you want to get both degrees. Your AP tests will get you out of just elective credits (which you should really take full advantage of at USC because they have a lot to offer) so it will help you register earlier for classes. They take 32 units (8 APs) max so be sure to get at least a 4 or 5 on 8 of the 9. You would get out of only Category 1 or 3 GE courses (I think?). Category 1 if you got a 4 or 5 on Art History or Euro History. Category 3 if you got a 4 or 5 on Bio, Chem, or Physics. This is all on the USC website but I can’t find the link at the moment.

In my opinion, you should choose USC Marshall (provided money isn’t a factor). The Trojan network is amazing and the international opportunities are unparalleled. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Also, I am looking at the USC housing right now. Is Birnkrant only for freshmen who received a trustee or presidential scholarship? I read in the booklet that was sent to admitted students that Birnkrant is for “Trustee and Presidential Scholars, as well as other select freshmen awarded honors upon admission to USC.” It is a little ambiguous… should I even bother selecting Birnkrant as one of my choices, since I did not get any scholarships or honors?

I don’t know the answer to that. I selected Birnkrant as my second choice even though I didn’t receive a scholarship or honor, but I’m not sure if I’m ineligible like you say. PM alamemom or GeorgiaGirl, as they are some of the most knowledgeable people on this forum.
