USC Freshman General Knowledge

Hey guys, i'm a student living in Beijing (asian of course) and is now accepted into USC. I had so many older students telling me to take as many easy classes as possible in my first year to rack up the GPA. I don't really need anyone's opinion on whether its a good idea or not but i want to know if you guys can give me a list of the easiest classes in USC. Another thing is that which dorms are the best? i'm a little confused with the terminology of housing but basically the ones where parties are great, the guys and girls are cool and its a spacious room to live in. Thanks so much for reading and i hope you can give me the best answers for these questions

Whether you take it in Freshman year or any other year, it doesn’t seem like it would make a difference to your final 4 year gpa… You’d just be loading all the harder classes later.

Unless you’re talking about GE’s, it’s not that useful to know what the easiest classes are if they don’t fall in your major. I can’t really help you with GE’s since I’m in Thematic Option, but from my friends’ experiences, some GE’s can be pretty tough.

There are actually a lot of threads about which dorms are the best and will address your concerns. Just do a search for them and you’ll find out a lot of information. But generally, north side dorms are more social since they’re dorm-styled (so that includes Birnkrant, which is an honors dorm now but has always housed the majority of scholarship recipients, and New/North). Pardee and Marks Tower are in between those and Marks Hall/Trojan Hall in terms of sociability, I’d say. Parkside and Fluor are both suite-styled so residents there tend to know their suitemates more than their entire floors. Not many parties there.

I haven’t found that USC kids party very much in dorms. It happens, but when you’ve got the row being right there and Greek life a pretty big part of campus, much of the partying is done there.
